Eating out in Glasgow

I’ll be in Glasgow for 4 nights at the end of the month and looking for recommendations for places to eat early evening. I’ll be staying at a hotel in Cambridge Street. I’ll be eating alone.

There is a lovely little Italian in the basement of Princes Square shopping mall. It's my favourite place to eat in Glasgow!

Babs is nice , quite near and casual. Does Greek/ Turkish food. Nippon Kitchen is nice for Japanese food. The restaurant bar and grill in Princes square is nice . Most places in Princes Square are nice. The other place to head is the Merchant City. Not sure of all the restaurants there but there are plenty of them. Are you looking for great food - or somewhere nice where you would feel comfortable eating alone

Lots of nice (and varied) places on/around Bath Street, Sauchiehall street and West George Street. Butterfly and the pig, Bucks Bar, Babs, Halloumi, Two Fat Ladies, Gamba.

Further into the city you’ll find lots of places around Buchanan street, Princes Square shopping centre, royal exchange Square and further up again, Merchant Square.

All of the above is within 20 mins walk of hotel. I’d recommend google mapping to see where/ what kind of food you fancy and booking in advance :)

Ardnamurchan's not too far away and is worth a go (cheaper if you go early bird)

Or if you wander down Sauchiehall St a bit and turn off Red Onion is nice.

Also down Sauchiehall St and worth a go is the Loon Fung.

There are a couple of restaurants on Cambridge St but I cant comment personally.

Thank you all

I’m looking for good food (but not too expensive) And somewhere I’d feel comfortable eating alone with a glass of wine and my kindle 😌

Ramen Dayo in Ashton lane is lovely, if you fancy getting the subway out to the West End. There’s also an amazing bakery called Cottonrake on Great Western Road.

BuntyCollocks · 13/10/2021 20:38

Alston bar and beef is awesome
For very casual German doner kebab is amazing

MiniPumpkin · 13/10/2021 20:39

La vita spuntini

ParkheadParadise · 13/10/2021 20:42

Another vote for Princess Square and Cottonrake.

The city will be really busy at the end of the month with the big environmental event so you may need to book ahead.

Selkiesarereal · 13/10/2021 20:47

Oops pressed too soon, but Atlantic brassiere is lovely and in the city centre.

The Glasgow Mumsnetters recommended paesanopizza.co.uk/ to me & we loved it there!

Sugo pasta is lovely

RunnerDown · 13/10/2021 23:43

Sugo pasta is very relaxed, cheap and delicious. It’s the sister to paesano which does pizza.

Theirishwan · 14/10/2021 09:27

Thank you all

I’ll definitely be trying some of the suggestions.
