Sadness about careers

For the past few months while the schools were closed for summer I have been temping in admin. I applied for a permanent admin job and got the job. I feel very sad to be leaving the temp position I'm doing but the commuting is too far for low pay.

In July I qualified as a teaching assistant, bear in mind I started training in January 2019 before the pandemic. I would love to work with children but have read so many stories about covid spreading in schools and I have to be careful with my health. Is it worth doing the admin job for a year then going back to the school work? I just feel so lost right now.

Do you currently have a teaching assistant job lined up to go to? If not, how long might it realistically take to successfully apply for such work? Would you not need a job in the meantime, anyway?

And, when you say you have to be careful with your health - is there a particular reason for vulnerability?

Congratulations on qualifying as a TA.

If your very clinically vulnerable I can see why your cautious, it’s something only you can truly weigh up. I have one friend who has worked as a teacher throughout and has not had covid but anecdotes mean nothing compared to how you personally feel.

I would do the admin job but I have poor health and have to remain cautious so get where you are coming from. It’s just dream job on hold not over.
