Why do we get asked to accept cookies on sites we visit regularly?

I am so fed up with this. Why can't you accept once and not get the same pop-up every time you log in?

I look at BBC Good Food frequently and it never remembers me. And plenty of other news sites too.

Is there a way round it?

Tia.

You might have set your browser to clear the cache and cookies every time you close it (I have it stops it clogging up).

The cookies question is per browser, per device too so if you log in on your phone in the morning but tablet in the afternoon you'll get the same warning again.

It's possible to go into browser settings (in Chrome it's in settings then privacy and security) and accept all cookies but this leaves you exposed to accidental web clicks where you accept all of a less than favourable site's cookies which could be all sorts of permissions being handed away without checking (normally tracking of usage and data entered).

Yes!!! What is the point of clicking the damn ‘Accept’ button when it then never remembers the stupid cookies? Happens to me all the time. I may have got irrationally angry about it once or twice.

I always alter the cookie settings to avoid sharing more data than necessary
