Christmas trees and toddlers?!?

Just looking ahead to Christmas. Our DS will be 18months in Dec. Does one have a Christmas tree with a toddler in the house? I'm struggling to work out if it's possible but will be sorry not to have one!

It's only just occurred to me as a clueless first time mum! What do others do?

With a curious and energetic child I definitely wouldn't have glass ornaments within their reach.

DD was 13 months last Christmas and a terror with the baubles. No interest in pulling over the tree itself thankfully but was endlessly obsessed with pulling off the baubles. Gentle distraction, gentle no, firm no, completely ignoring her- nothing worked and she just repeatedly stripped every bauble she could reach. I gave up in the end and we just had a tree that was only decorated at the top Grin

We tied ours to the wall and bought some wooden/felt decorations. All of my lovely glass ones have gone away for a few years

When my two were little we had non breakable stuff on it from when we had two kittens years before, the glass went away for a few years. I had started having all my beautiful glass out for the last couple of years but will be reverting back to the no breakable again this year as we we have two kittens again GrinSad

My mother in law blocked hers off with some play fencing so the child couldn't reach it. Worked well. If not then there is alwaha an artifical one
