Reporting someone for

My partners neighbour is a fraud and comes from a Community that you don't really like to mess with. He has put several vehicles in my partners name and 3 letters have arrived this week that make it look like my partner has committed driving offences in these vehicles. He had no idea he had done this. He makes polite conversation with him and occasionally their paths have crossed through work.

He has had a word with this man who's basically offered him cash to take the blame. He's not prepared to do it as he will loose his licence.

Anyway he is coming around to the fact he must go to report this and he's got particularly really down. He's not one to be scared of people but I think in the back of his head he's thinking this could bring trouble to him.

I told him I'll go with him if he likes and he said OK. But will the police actually be able to protect him somehow or will it be obvious?

If he looses his licence we will be stuck and it will stop us having an income.

do you have kids living there with you?

Bananalanacake · 12/10/2021 11:20

But won't the DVLA know who the car is registered to

SentDeliveredRead · 12/10/2021 11:24

Fucking Hell , I'd be surprised if the police didn't have anything on him already
I'd contact the DVLA and admit confusion as the cars have nothing to do with you

Is it things like speeding notices and the neighbour has said your partner was the driver so the notices have been sent to your address instead?

Btbb4564 · 12/10/2021 11:26

Yes speeding notices and no tax or insurance on the vehicle. He will loose his licence.

No my kids don't stay there yet. I am gradually adjusting things so we will all be together soon. So I'm there 3 nights a week.

Just ring up and say you’ve no idea what’s going on as those cars aren’t registered to you.

Tee20x · 12/10/2021 11:41

@Mymapuddlington

Just ring up and say you’ve no idea what’s going on as those cars aren’t registered to you.
Exactly.

They will not be able to prove your partner was driving so he will not lose his licence.

trumpisagit · 12/10/2021 11:42

Can your partner move?
Contact dvla, but I can understand why he is concerned.

Btbb4564 · 12/10/2021 12:53

Hi. The trouble is they are parked outside his house.
He's moving in December but stuck there for now.

OP posts:
Mymapuddlington · 12/10/2021 12:57

Doesn’t matter where they’re parked, ring up and say nothing to do with you and there’s obviously some mistake or someone using his name

SentDeliveredRead · 12/10/2021 12:59

It doesn't matter where they are parked. He has no connection legally with those cars
It's is on them to prove it
They're not responsible so just querie it
Don't point the blame as that could inflame it. Just deny and ask for proof

Btbb4564 · 12/10/2021 13:02

OK thats good advice. I can not believe how easy it is to take car out in someone else's name. Disgusting.

ApolloandDaphne · 12/10/2021 13:04

He definitely needs to let the police know that he was not driving those vehicles and that they don't even belong to him.

Knockoneofftheshelftowin · 12/10/2021 13:24

Oh dordy, is the neighbour a gypsy ?

gobbynorthernbird · 12/10/2021 14:32

Surely the DVLA sent documentation to your DPs house when the neighbour registered the vehicles to DP address and in DP name?

Btbb4564 · 12/10/2021 14:40

He has had everything over the last 2 weeks yes and he's been in a rut trying to figure out how to handle it. He's likely worrying about this man sending other men to give him a hard time or hurt him. From what I can tell.

They are travellers but I will state now that I don't believe they are all this way. Just he trouble and gas a few friends who are similar and could cause trouble.

This seems so bizarre but dvla are who he needs to speak to 1) to say he’s got cars registered name that aren’t his 2) see point 1) as to why it wasn’t him driving
