Do kids still play games like "What's the time Mr Wolf?"

I was reminiscing over our playground games (because if Squid Game)

This used to be one of my favourite ones Grin
I used to pace the little bit of playground trying to work out the maximum and minimum amount if steps, and then keeping count in my head to make sure it was dinner time juuuust before they got to the wall 🤣

Although I do remember Bulldog being banned at my primary school - no idea why but I remember the playground lady used to prowl around trying to catch you playing Bulldog and would tell you off.

My y2 children (I'm an MDS) play What's the Time Mr Wolf, Hot Chocolate (very similar premise), tag, and Duck Duck Goose, as well as skipping with a long rope (two turners and one jumper) and ball games. It's lovely watching them, and joining in!

My neighbours kids were playing games like this in the summer - a big range of ages, they must be from 5 to about 12/13. It was sweet, made me smile :)

My year 2 and year 3 kids play what's the time Mr wolf, Red light green light, bulldog, tig, hopscotch, duck duck goose, kerby, skipping, etc etc.
The big one often joins in (he's year 8) Grin

Bulldog could get quite violent from what I remember.

My kids described a game they played at school that sounded a lot like Red Rover to me, but with a different name and without the rhyme.

DS went to a church youth group night last night (he's Y5) and the vicar said she didn't want bulldog played in case anyone hurt themselves! But they play it at Cubs (mind you the Cub leader is somewhat heftier than the vicar in case of heavy children falling on others).
They do still play Mr Wolf, and they in fact played the key game at youth group (creep up on the person in the middle to get the keys). DS has sensory needs which means he's got super sensitive hearing and nobody could get past him - he was v proud!

@SpangoDweller

one called “tic tac toe” where Britney Spears is mentioned. When I asked my daughter if she knew who that was she said it was a lady from the olden days.

Grin

Bloody brilliant... 😂😂😂
