Right so;

I've lost 10 pounds without trying in 4 weeks (I'm fat so gp isn't bothered about malnutrition etc). I've got constant right sided abdo pain under my ribs really far on the right hand side. It's always there, it was worse when I drank alcohol. It hurts all the time but it's started feeling like a stitch now so I can't forget it's there anymore. I'd say the pain has been there intermittently for 12 weeks + but now it's constant. Like a dull ache / stitch. It hurts more when I breathe in but nothing gets rid of it. I itch all night mainly on my feet and hands but it's all over too. I've stopped drinking alcohol in case I was over doing it but it's changed nothing.

I've had diarrhoea for the same amount of time kind of greasy and frothy (sorry) or if it's not diarrhoea it's thin like a pencil and pale.

I've had a colonoscopy this weekend and I had a lot of diverticulum and I also had a lot of inflammation near my liver, I was stifling with the pain during it and I was having gas and air at the time but I could feel that pain when he got to that point. I also had a gastroscopy and he said I had a hiatus hernia and a lot of inflammation in my duodenum so he took some biopsies for Celiac disease and h pylori.

My dad died at 45 from bowel cancer as did his mum but she was 60. My dads cousin died at 49 from a type of bowel cancer but after dad died my mum stopped being in touch with his side of the family (understandable but hard for me)

I also had a ct scan on Thursday. I'm worried it'll come back with something on my liver but I think I'm more worried it'll show nothing because this pain is real it's not in my head.

I guess my question is, with a gastroscopy down to the duodenum and colonoscopy all the way to the ileum is that enough to rule out bowel cancer with spread to the liver?

Could I have a handhold? I'm 30. I think I'm going to have to ask for my dads tumour to be assessed and tested for a hereditary type of bowel cancer.

Oh OP, I'm so sorry to hear what you're going through. My nanna died of bowel cancer, in her case it was the one associated with ovarian cancer, and my mum has had ovarian cancer and polyps in the bowel that are cancer, so I understand a bit what you feel with worry about hereditary cancer.

From what I understand from what my mum has had, a colonoscopy was enough to identify the polyps and biopsy them. It sounds like they've done lots of really thorough tests for you so would find anything there is to find. A lot of your symptoms sound connected to the liver so hopefully they can find out what it is and help.

Once you know what you're dealing with health-wise at the moment, it might help to ask your GP to refer you to genetics about your dad's cancer. My mum's GP referred her and this is how she got regular colonoscopies to check her bowl. The geneticist looks at a lot of family history of cancers and was able to recommend what to do.

Flowers I hope you get some answers soon, waiting is awful. Hand hold here, thinking of you.

Also, your GP is not entirely right about malnutrition - while you may have energy stores to rely on if you're not able to eat you're not getting all the micronutrients (vitamins and minerals) that you need so could still be malnourished. I hate the attitude that :'you're fat so any weight loss is fine, even if you're starving'.Angry It's not okay if you can't eat, whatever your size!

Thank you @Bloatstoat yes the attitude of fat is okay is annoying!

Op I had similar symptoms to you and it turned out I had a massive ovarian cyst on my right side plus large fibroids all of which were completely benign. Have they checked that out? Have you seen a gynaecologist? All my bowel symptoms disappeared after I had a hysterectomy plus ovary removal.

@Areyouhappy no I haven't had a gynae scan in a while. I think I'm going to ask my dr for some better pain killers then try and find out who will be giving me my ct scan results

Have they checked for gallstones?

ChuddleyCannons · 11/10/2021 12:24

@HalfShrunkMoreToGo no, unless they'll show on a ct scan?

It my show up on the CT by accident if they were t looking at the gallbladder but managed to capture it anyway, that's actually how they found mine when they did a CT of my kidneys. An Ultrasound is the recommended test.

You have described a lot of the symptoms
