Do energy levels relate to how much emotional trauma or baggage you have?

Just interested in hearing thoughts. My dh has diabetes, we have very young children and work is super busy too. He has however been through a lot in his life and it got me wondering whether this contributes also to low energy levels?

I don’t think so.

The more pain I have, the lower my energy is. I am fortunate enough to have minimal emotional baggage trauma but do have medical issues.

I think absolutely yes. Energy levels after trauma can be rock bottom (or for some, sky high).
Lots of people take to bed for long periods of their day after experiencing trauma don’t they.
But I’d say you’d probably experience low energy in the close aftermath, or after triggering instances which make you think of the traumatic experience. You’d expect peaks and troughs over a lifetime I guess but perhaps not an energy level that’s permanently low due to trauma, with no hope of improvement.

I think so, yes. The body keeps the score (book) is really good if you're interested in the effects of trauma on the body.

Friend has pretty good energy levels but there are traumatic parts to her childhood. She has several huge emotional baggage areas. I don't think the relationship between past & energy levels now is so simple.

I think it can do. But may not do.

Look at summaries of research on effects of ACEs

Oh interesting theory. I experienced trauma growing up and as a young adult. I'm incredibly lazy...and I absolutely hate stress and avoid it at all costs. I'm only forty but I drive past some retirement flats today and thought I'd love to live there and do nothing except poorer around. Maybe you're right op
