How to get stinky spew out of car seat?!

DD has been sick in the car and it smells awful - we've given her a bath and washed her hair and I can still smell it Sad She's fine, which is the main thing, but the googling I've done in relation to getting the smell out of the car seat recommends vinegar . . . surely that will smell too?

Aaaaaaaarrrrrrgggggghhhhhhh just when I was thinking it had been a nice day . . .

Maybe try a solution of zoflora as it is an odour neutraliser

Most of them you can remove the covers and wash them. I'd definitely do that if I could! Not too hot though, you don't want to shrink it!

Does the car seat cover not come off to be washed?

Half vinegar half water

Lashings of hand sanitiser, rub loads in.

Verbena87 · 10/10/2021 19:41

Take off cover and wash. Bicarb anything you can’t remove, leave for a good few hours then hoover off.

icedcoffees · 10/10/2021 19:43

Bicarb - lots of it. Leave it on overnight then hoover off.

RedPandaFluff · 10/10/2021 19:53

Unfortunately the covers don't come off, which is pretty annoying as surely it's a fairly common thing for kids to be sick in cars?

Right, I'll try bicarb . . . bit worried about what hand sanitiser or zoflora would do the fabric and I can't be bothered with test patches etc. Grin

Thanks everyone.

I have used zoflora solution on my carpets with no adverse effects.

MrsChuckBass · 10/10/2021 20:31

Sodium bicarbonate followed by lemon water

NannyGythaOgg · 10/10/2021 20:34

With the vinegar use white - it doesn't smell as strong and goes away pretty quickly

RandomMess · 10/10/2021 21:12

Absolutely bicarbonate!

We got a spray from the pet shop you use when your pet is sick on the carpet or sofa/bed. It worked like a dream.

I gave up on keeping the fabric looking pristine, not after DD being in it for several years.
