I thought this article by Justin Rowlatt was interesting. I don't have room for a pond

Yes, it interesting but what is never mentioned is that garden ponds and water features attract rats - they need water every day in order to survive. Sadly, I speak from experience Grin

Ponds and young grandchildren, unless its small enough and you can afford a strong grid over it, I will always be anxious about one of them drowning while I’m making tea or helping one in the loo. It only takes a minute ...
When they are older, I would defo consider it.

I thought the water would need to circulate but maybe not with plants?

Hmmm I'm not so sure about the mosquito issue. There is a council pond a few doors down from me so I don't think I need to feel too bad.

Plus they can be such a danger for little kids.
