What would you buy for someone in their 60s, unwell, housebound at the minute

Who literally doesn’t need or want anything?

Buying her perfume, jewellery, clothes etc seems like a slap in the face as she can’t go anywhere or do anything.

She doesn’t need hand cream or pjs, doesn’t drink, doesn’t eat sweet stuff and eats like a wee bird generally, has a kindle and buys her own books and papers etc.

Can’t book a massage or anything as she can’t lie/sit for something like that.

I’m at a total loss 🤷‍♀️

Adopt her a donkey from Safehaven for Donkeys in Israel

She'll get interesting newsletters a few times a year that will tug at her heart (they do amazing work rescuing and caring for abandoned or mistreated donkeys) a photograph of her donkey, and there's a webcam on their site to watch the donkeys day and night. And a twitter feed! with daily updates and photographs!

I'm also in my 60s and don't need or want anything, but that would really please me (I have two adoptees already but the point is, it makes me happy to think of money going to the donkeys, that would be my best gift.)

Ooh I thought of another thing- a box of nice assorted notecards and envelopes, so I can write someone a birthday or thank you card without having to ask someone else to go to the shops and get one for me

Oil diffuser and essential oils?
Weighted blanket (they're very calming)
Potted plant
If she's likely to stop being housebound soon, a plan for a trip (gallery, show, cinema, whatever they'd like, rather than a thing)

If she can't get to her hairdresser and you know which one it is, you could get some of the shampoo / conditioner they use there so she can feel like she's not totally missing out on the hairdresser experience

Does she have a charging pad / docking station for charging her phone or tablet? Much easier than faffing around with cables

Pheebs2021 · 10/10/2021 10:45

A luxe upgrade to something she normally uses

Thanks for all of your suggestions - I went for a some lovely lounge wear type hoodie and joggers rather than pjs and a bouquet of flowers

I’ll keep the weighted blanket idea for Xmas

Thanks all!!

That sounds lovely OP - I'm sure she'll really enjoy them Flowers

I'm 60 & mostly housebound, especially recently

I would hate a lot of suggestions here tbhConfused

I would LOVE the perfume though, especially with a note to say it's just for me & spray it on my pillow & wear it everyday. Anything luxurious & pampering, bath stuff, nice treat foods etc would be really appreciated
