Weekend in Liverpool. What to do?

I'm going to Liverpool in mid November to celebrate a milestone birthday. I adore the city and have wonderful memories from living there years ago. What can we do there to make it memorable? I haven't been for ages and no longer know good restaurants, hotels, etc,

We need:

  • a nice hotel in town, budget approx £150 per room.
  • restaurants with great food (I love food) but informal and relaxed in terms of atmosphere.
  • what seas for things to do during the day. I know there are some great museums, but probably not that. Are the Beatles experience tours any good? Some of my friends fancy it.

Thanks xx

Bring your driving licences and hire some of the Voi scooters to get around! They're great fun but you do need a driving licence to hire one!

we went 3 years ago. Stayed at the Liner, so easy to get to by train and easy walking distance to the City Centre and Museums. Just down the road was the theatre - in case there is a show on that appeals.

We ate at the italian Club on Bold Street - lovely food and they would do puddings as takeaway!

I live local to Liverpool but was looking for hotel in Jan after the theatre and all the hotels have sky rocketed in price. We stay over semi regularly in normal times but I think you'll be hard pushed to find a city centre nice hotel for £150! Good luck though (and if you find one let me know where so I can book it to)

As others have said, sooo much good food around.

I love: Duke Street Market, Mowgli, Baccaro, Wreckfish (pricy), the Florist, the pencil factory

Alma de Cuba was the place to go for drinks a few years ago but not sure now, not heard either way. I love kasmier (sp?) gardens for drinks.

There's a bar called Liverpool Arts Bar up by the Phil that does local booze, and has local artists of all descriptions performing, it's so fun but during term time has a large student pull (don't know if that puts you off or not lol)

The museums are fab, a wander round the dock is lovely, especially in the evening when it's lit up (but wrap up!!!), there's some fun bars with bowling or other games in, junk yard golf etc is fun too.

Have a fab time, Liverpool is the best

GPO foodhall is also worth a visit for breakfast/brunch/lunch. Great coffee and pastries.

Malmaison for the hotel and Casa Italia for food is our usual plan when in Liverpool

There a few weeks ago. Stayed at the Resident, ate at the Cowshed, cocktails at Berry and Rye!
