I've been fundraising for an event and a cause very close to my heart and in memory of someone special who I lost. My dc has been off school for the majority of last week, started as sore throat, then achy, cough. Had pcr and ok. He's fine now. Over night I had a really sore throat, not too bad today, just feel a little tired today but I wonder it I'm sickening for the same thing. If Im not too bad tomorrow and no other symptoms would I be ok to do the event do you think? We will be walking but there are many obstacles through mud/water etc. I googled exercising with a cold and the general concensus is as long as you don't have a temp or cough/Chestiness it's OK. My other dc is not feeling well today either 😕

I think it depends on a few things like how used to exercise you are, what have you don't in this situation before. I've exercised regularly all my life so I know my body.

I think I would probably skip it and just do it as a virtual event when you are better. There will be other events. Also depends how many people you will be in contact with at the event nobody will want to catch it even if it isn't covid.

I'm sure everyone who has sponsored will understand

I've read you can damage your heart exercising with a virus. I'll see if I can find a more reliable source than my foggy menopausal anecdote.

Depends on how strenuous the exercise is. I would do a one-hour fitness class if I had a slight cold. I might scale down the HIIT sections. All day outside getting muddy and wet and cold would be a different matter if I felt shivery or achey.

Dose yourself up with First Defence and Honey and Ginger Lemsip and see how you feel.

I've checked my temp and ok. If I wake up and feel fine ill go but if not well then I'm going to have to leave it. I'm absolutely gutted :-( I don't want to let down all the people who have sponsored me.

My rule of thumb is if I feel ill from the neck above then I'll generally exercise (but not too strenuously) but if it's below my neck (chest etc) then no chance.

It's not on my chest. I'm probably over thinking it. Just had a really sore throat during the night. Today, I feel OK just a bit tired.

I often go for a run when I feel like a cold is coming on. Seems to work for me.

If you don’t feel unwell then go for it.

I'll have a good sleep and assess in the morning. Thank you 😊

With a cold yes I’d exercise if I felt well enough. Without a pcr test I wouldn’t attend an event with others though. The last two people I know who tested positive felt tired and had either a headache or sore throat and none of the main three symptoms.

The excitement and adrenaline will see you through the event.

I would give more consideration to what next week looks like - can you take some time (3-5 days) to properly rest & recover from both illness and event. If so then go for it. If you're heading straight into Monday and a 50 hour working week then I'd probably think otherwise
