Stomach pain, no vomiting, please reassure

I ate a reheated curry including cheese and rice (5 days old) on Tuesday for lunch. I had stomach cramps afterwards and in the evening went to bed with shivers and a fever so I assumed food poisoning, but I didn't throw up.

The next day stomach still a little sore. Fine.

But today, still sore!! Can you have food poisoning/a stomach virus without diarrhoea or vomiting?

Sorry, this is a pathetic, boring question but DH died of bowel cancer so I have horrific fears in this area.

Anecdotes of stomach pain for several days that then went away welcome.

Gosh, I'm boring myself now. Stupid health anxiety

I’m sure you just have a dodgy stomach after eating the reheated curry with rice!
I too have health anxiety and know how all consuming it can be.
You’ll be fine in a day or two 💐

I hope so. It's so tedious having your brain consumed with this stuff

I feel for you, I have health anxiety too. You have a cause. You felt ill after eating a five day old reheated curry! It's not a coincidence. I am very confident you will feel (physically) better very soon.

Re: anxiety, are you getting any help for it? I'm so sorry to hear about your DH. I tried CBT, didn't work for me but some people swear by it. What is working (so far) is EMDR for PTSD which they think is causing the health anxiety. I'm getting it on the NHS. My DH died of a brain tumour.

I'm sorry to hear of your loss @Sapphire387. Cancer is a bitch.

I tried EDMR and have had some improvement. But the pain without vomiting or diarrhoea freaked me out, as I would expect to see at least one of those.

5 days?

Crunchymum · 09/10/2021 10:16

You have health anxiety but at a 5 day old curry? You really aren't doing yourself any favours are you? Sad

Crunchymum · 09/10/2021 10:16

I've had this before after eating old/reheated food. The stomach cramps can last for a few days. It's extremely rare I throw up/have diarrhoea but my stomach lets me know it's not happy.

You'll be ok in a day or so. Try not to worry, you know what's caused it!!!

WaterBottle123 · 09/10/2021 11:21

@Crunchymum

I wouldn't feel anxious if the curry had given me regular food poisoning with vomit etc. It's unexplained or unusual symptoms that bother me. I'm actually generally very healthy and robust.

Health anxiety is the worst. But in this instance I think it's safe to assume it's the 5 day old curry. You shouldn't really eat food beyond day 3 if you're reheating it. Hope you feel better soon Flowers

Have you done a pregnancy test? Could be an ectopic pregnancy?

allycat4 · 09/10/2021 12:29

Also you need to remind yourself that stomach aches are one of the most common everyday ailments. Lots of tummy bugs going around at the moment, or you can just get a gripes tummy when you're run down.
