Totally believe DS...

DS came out of school and made an allegation that a Teacher had hit him.

I totally believe him, the entire story fits and rings true. I spoke to the school and the school escalated to Child protection. Is this normal protocol?

I’ve just had the most awful phonecall from the child protection team.

How old is he roughly (primary/secondary)

It is going to be tough on everyone.

PyjamaFan · 08/10/2021 16:12

What happened?

H0cusP0cus · 08/10/2021 16:12

What happened?

How old is he?

Geamhradh · 08/10/2021 16:17

What did you expect to happen?
They've acted extremely quickly to say it's Friday afternoon. I'd have thought the school would have dealt with it internally by speaking to the teacher first, with union representation etc.
Must have been extremely serious to immediately have gone to external authorities.

What was awful about the phone call?

Antiqueanniesmagiclanternshow · 08/10/2021 16:23

No the procedure is NOT to talk to the teacher other than to ask them to make a statement. It goes straight to the local authority. The teacher will be told nothing.

How old is he?

My DC was told something by a fellow student, about a member of staff at their school, which they then relayed to their class teacher. By that evening I had the head call to appraise me of what was going on, as well as a visit from social services to take an account from my DC. I am also a teacher and the incident you describe would be taken very seriously and things would be moving very quickly. Protocol is normally not to tell the teacher the allegation is made against while the incident is initially investigated.

I have read previous thread

So the school have closed the investigation as believed teacher and referred to child protection. Correct?

** My son raised an allegation that he was assaulted by a teacher.

The school raised an investigation and said they were happy that it was dealt with effectively and they believe the staff member and not the child.

The school has referred my son to child protection. Is this normal procedure? They now want to interview him.

The lady spoke so derogatory on the phone to me and I’m so new to all this.

Where is the previous thread?

Exactly. Talk to the teacher and get them to make a statement with representation. Then up the pole. Sorry I wasn't clear before, but we're saying the same thing. (I'm deputy safeguarding lead) Anyhow, looks like something odd is going on here so, I'll be off. Smile

Multiple threads and very vague information..... seems odd.
