Electricity prices. £5 per day?

Is there something possibly wrong with my electric metre, or have the prices went ridiculous?

I am doing nothing different to what I usually do, but Ive noticed that it's going down pretty much £5 per day. £5 could be pushed up to 3 days just a month or so ago. So it's a huge difference.

So I'm just wondering if the price increase sounds about right? I'm with British gas

I read some tips on BBC yesterday, apparently electronic items, TV and WiFi modems on standby use as much power as they use when watching TV etc. I’ve unplugged my TV for the first time for years. Tonight I’m going to off the washing machine and dryer at the plug. With the current price rise I will turn just about everything off.

@AdoraBell I saw the same and it said leaving stuff on standby could cost up to £35.
But I can't remember if it was a year or month. I assume year so spread over 12 payments is less than £3 a month.

Found it. It is yearly. The thing I'd Dave most on is less washing or dishwasher

tumble dyers & ovens eat the electricity I am afraid - can you do short washers or cold washes sometimes & dry outside or on airer?

TheChip · 08/10/2021 20:22

Yeah I dry outdoors and on airers when possible. I like to do the towels in the dryer though. It hasn't been much of an issue before.
But it's different now, so I'll change how I use it.

There have been some great tips on here so thanks a lot!

I am amazed at the thermostat one though. Many times I just flick it right round without thinking about where its ending. I think just as long as I pass the clicking sound. I can imagine I've wasted a lot doing that!
