Teeth issues

I've also posted on the health board but realised it might not count as a health issue
About 18 months ago I had a tooth pulled after a filling totally cracked and the tooth was not able to be saved. Since then I have such bad gum recession that the tooth next to the gap is beginning to cause me pain. It's at the base of the tooth where the gum has come so far down.
I can't get an appointment with the dentist for another 6 weeks and I am petrified that I am going to loose another tooth. Before I was 30 I didn't have a single filling. Since then my teeth have just fallen apart.
I brush 2 times a day, floss etc. But I am also severely anemic and have been told that can have an effect on your gums.
What cam I do to slow the gum recession? I know gums don't grow back.

I think gums do grow back. At least mine has. I had a tooth extracted a few months ago and I was left with a huge hole. I had to eat on the other side of my mouth for months. However, the hole has now been "filled" with new gum. In any case, I would seek an emergency appointment rather than waiting for 6 weeks.

After an extraction the bone shrinks down as the bone supporting the teeth is no longer needed and disappears. This can pull the gum down around other teeth causing more of the sensitive root to be exposed which is probably causing the pain and not likely to get any worse now so I wouldnt worry. The gum level won't improve but the sensitivity should ease with time. However I would get it checked just in case there's a new problem. A good tip is to rub sensitive toothpaste on the root with your finger a few times a day like a cream

Buy some corsodyl gel and a small brush. After brushing your teeth put a small amount off the gel on the brysh and clean the base of your tooth. Push quite firmly into the gap. Recommended by my dentist to keep receding gums at bay!
