Should I mention this to the dr?

I had a ct scan with contrast this morning and the bloke doing my cannula had to do it in my wrist. Quite literally in the middle of my wrist on the underneath. My veins are crap. Anyway he did the test gave me the contrast and it stung a little bit but nothing too bad. However when he took the cannula out he said 'oh wow that's a big bruise'

Anyway I've been home for a bit now and I have a bright blue bruise from my wrist it's about 2 inches wide and 3 inches deep but I'm a bit worried about the swelling. From
The side and top it's about 3 cm raised up from the skin and it hurts to move my wrist or put it on a pillow when I'm in bed.

Is it just a bit of a haematoma? Will it just be absorbed up?

Sorry no advice but sounds nasty! Maybe see how it goes over the next couple of days ?

It sounds mild so far. Noticeable but not very painful or scary looking.

I had a CT scan on Monday and had the same type of bruise but on my arm. It was blue and raised but is fading now. They had to try the cannula in both arms because they couldn’t find my veins, had to use an ultrasound to find it. Then they had to do the scan twice because they didn’t cover the whole area in the first scan. So double dose of the dye too😬. Isn’t it a strange sensation and taste when they put the dye in?

@Shopaholic100 it's horrible! I thought I was actually peeing myself Blush I could also taste it! It's bigger today I think it's a hematoma

It certainly feels like that. Might be worth getting it checked out, it will put your mind at rest.

Put some ice and pressure on it. Nothing the doctor can do. Unless you think it's still getting bigger.

It sounds like the cannula may have tissues when he pushed in the contest. It will reduce, just add ice and pressure

I had a bruise from a cannula in the same place following surgery at Christmas. My wrist to my elbow was a huge bruise. The surgeon and nurses weren't concerned and it recovered after a couple of weeks.
