Ds is 16. Can he walk into a clinic by himself and get the covid vaccine? or do we need to take him?

bump
does anyone know? Please?!!!
I have claimed that mumsnet will definitely be able to help (we have to figure this out before tomorrow) but now I'm wondering if my question is just too boring!

I think he can

FanSpamTastic · 06/10/2021 23:17

DD went by herself at 17 if that helps? Can't see there would be much difference between 16 and 17.

I have had to give school permission for FS aged 15.

Thank you buckeejit! Have you got a ds or dd who has done it?

Go online to the nhs website and start completing the online form to book into your local online centre and hopefully it will tell you.

badger2005 · 06/10/2021 23:19

Thank you FanSpamTastic! Did your dd have it at school or in a clinic? Ds doesn't want to wait for the vaccine to be offered at school, and can stop off on his way to school at a clinic place...

My ds is 17 and went alone, he has 16 year old friends who also went alone.

I have to go I with my 13yo.

Mybalconyiscracking · 06/10/2021 23:20

Yes, he can go by himself. There were a fair few when I took DD. I’d have been comfortable sending her in by herself but she wanted me to go too.

Fluffypastelslippers · 06/10/2021 23:21

Yes of course. You can consent to your own medical treatment at 16 (younger in cases but not relevant here)

Mybalconyiscracking · 06/10/2021 23:21

Sounds like a sensible chap, should think you are very proud of him OP.

badger2005 · 06/10/2021 23:24

Thank you so much everyone. I knew that mumsnet would have the answers.

Yes, mybalconyiscracking - he's a love.

If he can stop off on his way to school, surely he can just ask himself when he gets there.

badger2005 · 07/10/2021 06:55

Sure SuperstarDog - it's just that if he needed an adult there, then dh would have arranged to go in with him before work, so we wanted to know before dh set off to work. All sorted now - thank you all!

In my area the walking clinics aren't involved in vaccinating the 12-15 years olds, I asked as DD missed her vaccine at school.

No harm in trying if hes going that way anyway.

HPandTheNeverEndingBedtime · 07/10/2021 07:08

*walk-in centres

HPandTheNeverEndingBedtime · 07/10/2021 07:09

Ignore me I thought I read he was 15, so he may well be able to get one at a clinic.
