Difference between National and International level in sport?

Wondering about this. If a DC is on a junior England squad for their sport and plays against teams from other countries, that is "international level", yes?

And if they're on a squad for their region andvplay against other regions, that is "regional level", yes?

In which case, what is "National Level"?

National level is when you join a national academy rather than a regional academy. National might be England, Wales, Scotland and N Ireland and playing v one another . You are only ‘international’ if you play competitively outside of the ‘home’ nations. That’s how I see it.

International is against other countries
National means competing against others in the same country but could be from anywhere in that country.
Regional means competing within that region.
