My DD is struggling to learn her times tables. Please let me know what has helped your children with learning them. Thanks

my dd really struggled learning them, but she found it easier putting them to music. you can get a CD on amazon that we put into the car and played every time we were going on a drive somewhere, and they soon stuck in her head

Times tables rock stars, but crucially starting working with a multiplication square so she looked up the answer rather than having to know it. Daily practice (just 3 minutes) and she’s gradually learned them all.

Little and often.

Find out what she knows already.
Does she know those really well or do they need more practice?

Start with a few she knows really well and add a couple she needs practice on then back to ones she knows well. Success and praise is important.

If she is unsure of the concept..

Use crayons or Lego blocks to lay out groups of 2. 3x2 and 2x3 could be two groups with three things or three groups of two things.

Learn 2x 10x first then fives. (Or ask school which order they do them in)
