£3000 for a family holiday- where would you go?

Our budget for next year is a bit bigger than usual. We have 3 children (who will be 1, 4 and 12). Where could we go that would keep all 3 of them entertained and would have accommodation with at least 2 bedrooms and a living area for DH and I to be in the evenings while they sleep? We are thinking 5 days- a week. Probably UK but maybe Europe. Not including spending money.

@Hottubtimemachine how big is your family?! That's crazy money. Our family of four go to Europe every october half term for £1500 including flights, and all inclusive. August you're looking at £2500 for a week. Try mainland Spain, cheaper than the Spanish islands and also cheaper than Greece or Cyprus

@Hottubtimemachine

Does anyone have any links to family holidays abroad in school holidays for £3k? Genuine question, I’ve been looking all week and can’t see anything for less than 6-7k. Sounds like I’m looking in the wrong places! Good luck OP!
This is a lovely resort town in Majorca, although I haven't bothered looking at flights times etc, just did a quick search for the first week of the summer holiday.

Oh god OP surely for that money you'd want to go somewhere with guaranteed sunshine?! Or is the possible cost/hassle of having to test for covid with three kids before you fly putting you off?

HungryHippo11 · 04/10/2021 20:38

I would spend half of it on a UK holiday and use the rest for something else. £3k seems like an awful lot for a UK holiday - unless you're going for 3 weeks or something

I would drive and get the ferry across the channel and down into France, maybe not right to the very south but somewhere where you could be fairly sure of some lovely sun. Maybe down to La Rochelle. You could probably get 2 weeks in a Eurocamps caravan for that, failing that one of their fully equipped tents.

Turkey with TUI , all inclusive and using a free child place.

Actually, if you went for the last week of May you could go for closer to £2000 without using a free child place

This is exactly what we did, it was a great holiday.

I'd go for a villa with a pool in a nice bit of France. If you like the idea of glamping, Huttopia sites are nice. You wouldn't need 3 grand for that though.

I would book a French campsite for 2 weeks, 3 birth lodge. Look up Pierre vacances or similar. Activities for the elder 2, sports for the eldest, swimming pool etc. Most have food on site like croissants and bread in the morning you can send the 12 year old for, many have restaurants too. We loved them with kids. If you aren't worried about hot, Normandy is lovely and I recommend musee de Caen, bayeaux and Juno beach museums in particular

Thanks everyone. I will have a look at the places suggested. We can’t go for longer than a week for a good reason, and of course we don’t need to spend the whole budget. My main reasons for a uk holiday are 1) covid - I don’t want the stress of wondering whether the country we are in will end up on a list etc 2) flights/logistics of going abroad with small children and 3) my daughter has heat triggered eczema and her skin would be terrible after a few days of sun and pool sadly.
