I’ve recently started listening to podcasts, I’m aware I’m late to the party.

I listen to sport ones with my son so I’m looking for things just for me, I like history, crime, maybe something a bit out there( I go down wiki rabbit holes regularly, things like remote islands and their way of life)

Ive started a cpl and find they’re not for me so personal recommendations would be fab

@Logoplanter

The Failing Writers Podcast is good. Fun, funny and you really don't have to be a wannabe writer to enjoy it. They have interesting guests on too.

Have been listening to this on my commute and am loving it! Thanks for the recommendation!

Another vote for You're Dead to Me. Also Natalie Haynes Stands Up For The Classics. Both on BBC Sounds

Yes to 99% Invisible @MissKeithsNeice and Roman Mars has a gorgeous voice - so it's not just me Grin

I like Malcolm Gladwell's Revisionist History, and Tim Harford's Cautionary Tales.

Roominmyhouse · 12/10/2021 21:02

I really like - British Scandal, Redhanded, Morbid, Real crime profile, Sinisterhood, Dr death, This podcast will kill you, Adam Buxton, Katherine Ryan, Three bean salad.

bonfireheart · 12/10/2021 21:04

Small Town Murder - tbh the murder bit I ignore, I love the detail they go into about small towns.

YeOldeTrout · 12/10/2021 21:05

Radio 4 "The Long view" is great history + current affairs intersection podcast.

Nefelibata86 · 12/10/2021 21:10

Drunk women solving crime

Brokenrecord3006 · 12/10/2021 21:12

Unexplained.

I listen to it when I'm driving and it's dark and raining. Lovely.

TheVanguardSix · 12/10/2021 21:13

I really like Connie Walker's Missing and Murdered: Who Killed Alberta Williams and also Missing and Murdered: Finding Cleo. Those two and also her podcast Stolen: The Search for Jermain are excellent and really give you an insight into the ongoing plight and tragedy of indigenous women of Canada.

Has no one said they walk among us?!

MeanMrMustardSeed · 12/10/2021 21:15

The Teachers Pet. Absolutely fabulous real life crime podcast in Australia. Totally gripping.

MeanMrMustardSeed · 12/10/2021 21:16

Oh, and another vote for They Walk Among Us!

Mehmehmeh19 · 12/10/2021 21:19

Murder most Irish feminist true crime

All killa no filla

notacooldad · 12/10/2021 21:22

Assuming you are not in Australia, The Teachers Pet is definitely worth a listen.
It is suppressed there due to recent developments in the case but you will not believe the twists and turns that have happened over the decades ( if you don't already know the story.

I have my own opinion on whether Chris Dawson is guilty or not!

Jenson and Holes - The murder Squad is good One is a investigative journalist and the other is an ex detective. The discuss unsolved murders and possible culprits. There is a bit banter to begin and any updates with but the main story is good.

NauseousNancy · 12/10/2021 21:24

Serial (especially the first series) is fab.

Red handed is great.

Brickskithouse · 12/10/2021 21:24

Best drama series for me have been the Battersea Poltergeist; Death in Ice Valley; Missing Cryptoqueen and End of Days (about Waco). All brilliant.

There are some great recommendations on here which I'll be checking out.

TheWeeDonkey · 12/10/2021 21:24

There is a new one recently started Bad Women its by Hallie Rubenhold and is about the victims of Jack the Ripper. Its a really interesting view into the lives of working class women in Victorian times. More about their lives than their fates.

notacooldad · 12/10/2021 21:25

for true crime, if you like hearing investigative series where one case is investigated over 12 episodes (David Ridgen goes to suspects doorsteps etc, reinterview everyone around a case) rather than hour long stories:

'Somebody Knows Something'

'The Lighthouse' is similar - investigating the disappearance of a Belgian national on Bondi beach a couple of years ago over a 7 part series. It got me into podcasts.

'The Piketon Massacre' is a case in front of the courts in the US at the moment. Again several investigative episodes

'S-town' - available through a website: stownpodcast.org kind of strange but sucks you in.

And yes 'The dropout' fascinating and that case is in front of the courts at the moment too.

Annabelle69 · 13/10/2021 22:33

Casefile, Casefile, Casefile. Outstanding for True Crime. "Casey" has such a gorgeous narrating Australian voice. Its hard to recommend an episode to start, but try Jennifer Pan, Amy Lynne Bradley, Mark and John. If you like to go down rabbit holes, this is the Podcast.
