Decluttering

How many toys do your dc have? Our house doesnt have great storage but it feels cluttered and I'm determined to declutter.. . Just dont know where to start.
I look at things and think we might need that so keep. The dc seem to have loads of little bits, lego playmobile, dolls, paw patrol, puzzles, board games, colouring dressing up etc I dont know what to get rid of?

Start with storage, e.g. IKEA Kallax.

Then work out how often they play with each thing.
e.g. if dolls are played with frequently, maybe you do need 10 of them. If not then perhaps 2 will do.

How old are the DC? Sometimes they grow into things, some things are used for years, some things are grown out of quickly.

Far too many 😂 but I've stopped keeping every tiny thing, the rule is, if a toy hasn't been played with for a given time, it goes. Toys they've outgrown go, no questions. They're both into Lego, so I've had to get Lego storage boxes that can neatly fit either under the bed, or for DD under her wardrobe. I've had to ask family to stop gifting toys, as it's getting overwhelming. We also have a small room where most of the other toys, such as board games are stored (as well as arts and crafts), and books. It's never ending though.
I've also put good size ottomans in both kids rooms, store lots and doesn't look untidy.

Thanks, dc 8 & 5 so lots of lego etc for 8 year old- need to get some storage for this. 5 year old has big oaw patrol / soiderman/ garages etc so they take up space and dont really tidy away neatly. I think more Kallax might be the answer..... thanks

If theybdont play with it then get rid. If it's broken, or too young for them then get rid.

Personally I'd keep the things like lego or playmobile because they can be played with for years and were in our family, but obviously you know your kids. Both can usually be sold on if in decent condition if you don't want them.

Work out how to store what you keep. We had lidded plastic boxes stacked up which wasn't pretty but worked for us.

Mine are 6 and 8. Sams dilemma here.

I'm going to sell the big bulky stuff (I sold the paw patrol bundle and tower last year along with their outside ride on kiddies stuff)
I'm keeping the lego forever.

But their pirate ship and huge Fisher price things are out the door in the next few weeks.

We use the ikea Trofast and I have a few large buckets. Teepee tent stores the Teddy bears.
