What are you doing today with your kids?

Feeling quite down and could do with some reassurance that I’m not a totally crap mum. What are you up to with your little ones today?

I’m 29 weeks pregnant and knackered. DH is working today. 4 year old doesn’t seem to be able to play independently at all. I foresee a lot of screen time today

But yesterday (DH also working) DS and I went to the park, played board games and read books/listened to audio books. We were going to make homemade pizzas but the car broke down so we couldn’t get the ingredients. Had takeaway pizza instead which is a massive treat for DS.

So, today…
Try to relax about screen time
Get him to do some “cleaning” with a spray bottle and a cloth
Get him to help make batter for toad in the hole for lunch
Maybe fairy cakes
More board games
More books

We’ve not signed him up for any clubs yet as he’s only just started reception and we were worried he would be too tired. After Christmas I think we’ll look at him starting a regular sport on a weekend.

We also used to go to church on a Sunday but we’re being cautious with Covid at the moment because I’m in the third trimester and the kids activities haven’t fully restarted anyway.

We're all off for PCR tests in a mo. Living the dream

Well change of plan. Dd is in her bedroom as she's just had 2 positive lateral flows. 🙄 pcr booked for tomorrow morning.

@didireallysaythat - we’ve had some ‘fun’ Sundays like that. Hope it’s negative for you all.

So far we’ve done books, board games, drawn a monster and he’s ‘helped’ with the laundry and the recycling (hall is now full of little bits of cardboard). Going to do play bath in a bit.

I took older DC swimming and younger DC to the park. Then I did some DIY playdough for the kids. Now we're on screens before lunch. After lunch it's homework time.

We went to a garden centre, looked at their Christmas displays which are amazing. Had lunch and cakes there. They’re now having screen time on the sofa and in a bit I’ll do homework with them and then it will be tea and bathtime

I've worked a lot this week and feel like I've not seen the kids but I'm absolutely knackered so we went to supermarket to pick up stuff for Sunday lunch, walked and collected some conkers, came back and they played while I cooked a roast. Ate that and now they're playing while I Potter around. Got snacks for a movie afternoon so I'll crack them out in an hour and spend a bit of quality (if a bit lazy) time with them before another hellish week!

We went to church this morning. It was the harvest service and very kid friendly. After the service DD(5) was running around playing tig and hide and seek with the other children, there's a lot of room in the hall for them to play. Really nice to see after so many months of them not being able to see each other on Sundays.

This afternoon we are taking it easy. Did a little bit of spelling homework, watching telly. DD is currently watching DH play a biking video game whilst she has a slice of chocolate cake and a glass of milk.

3yo is still recovering from a tummy bug so we've had a quiet weekend.

Other than swimming lessons (for older DC) we stayed in yesterday but the weather was grim. We got all the weekend chores done though.... homework / ironing uniforms etc.

Today older two have gone for an afternoon walk in the woods with daddy and I'm home with little one. We're watching Ferdinand.
