Does anyone else have a bug with upset tummy, heavy limbs, feeling exhausted?

I’ve got this very weird combination of symptoms and wondered if it’s a funny bug doing the rounds.

I did a lateral flow test and it was negative.

I feel exhausted, having spent the day in bed, and my limbs just feel like lead. I’ve had tummy pains and the runs since yesterday (sorry TMI)

Anyone else?

I would imagine symptoms like this would not show up in LFT as they are for asymptomatic cases of covid, not those with symptoms. I got a PCR for DH because he had symptoms. Luckily his was negative, there are lots of other things around too.

LFT’s are actually more reliable when you have symptoms than when you don’t. The reason PCR’s are recommended over LFT’s for symptoms is because PCR’s are more reliable than LFT’s so more likely to pick up the virus. It doesn’t mean that LFT’s don’t work when you have symptoms… they do (and pretty well). They just don’t work as well as PCR’s.

I had this 2 weeks ago. I was so unwell for a whole week. I could barely eat without agonising stomach cramps. I lived off 2 rich tea biscuits a day.
I feel back to normal now but have been left with a really horrid taste in my mouth.

Yes these were some of my first Covid symptoms

Camblewick · 03/10/2021 12:08

@TheGrumpyGoat really? That's interesting, thanks for the info. I was told (by my GP 🤦) that the LFTs were only for asymptomatic cases of covid, but wholly unreliable for symptoms, so a PCR required. Thanks again.

DaisyWaldron · 03/10/2021 14:03

It's more that LFTs aren't particularly reliable in general, so if you have symptoms, you should get a test to establish if the symptoms are from Covid, whereas if lots of people test twice a week regardless of symptoms, then even it it only picks up half of the asymptomatic cases, that's still a huge number of infectious people isolating who would otherwise be unknowingly infecting other people.

DaisyWaldron · 03/10/2021 14:04

If you have symptoms, you should get a PCR test, I meant.

There's tons about OP. I work in a school and there's lots of kids off with the Not Covids.

I've been for two PCR tests this week and have had a temperature, zero sense of smell and taste since last Sunday and felt utterly dreadful with flu symptoms and stayed in bed.
Both tests negative. I've got antibiotics for a sinus infection now, but am still knackered, foggy headed with face pain. Back to work tomorrow though.

My 6yo has just got over norovirus and now has chicken pox 😫

themuttsnutts · 03/10/2021 14:51

My daughter had this with negative covid test

themuttsnutts · 03/10/2021 14:52

I think it was a flu because the rest of us had been jabbed

Deathraystare · 03/10/2021 16:00

Slight cold and had the galloping trots last night. Oh my god! It is a wonder I have any loo roll left! Rather embarrassing as I share the flat with one other. I have sprayed disinfectant everywhere. Cannot find the diarrhoea tablets I bought last time. I did take Lemsip last night and everything seems to have died down. Just as well as I am now in work.

I woke up at 2pm to take a Lemsip and listen to Barry White on the CD. See, Barry loves me even when I have the shits!

Deathraystare · 03/10/2021 16:02

I meant I took a Lemsip for the cold not the shits! Oh and my local Boots is shut on a Sunday, I forgot that so could not get any more tablets.

Thegirlwiththeeagereyes · 03/10/2021 17:19

Not what you want to hear but that's how I was when I got covid - started with those exact symptoms and didn't develop any of the "big 3" until day 3 or 4. You might want to book a pcr. Whatever it is, hope you're better soon Flowers

MillyMollyMardy · 03/10/2021 17:28

I have Covid at the moment- postive lateral flow 4 days ago, confirmed by PCR 3 days ago but I had nausea and diarrhorea a few days before that so don't rule Covid out.

EatSleepRantRepeat · 04/10/2021 10:28

@Deathraystare you went to work with the galloping shits? I would not be happy if I was your colleague, I can cope with colds flu etc but the shits can utterly destroy someone's week!

Rainallnight · 08/10/2021 22:38

So next I got a headache and cold symptoms - sneezing etc - both of which I’ve seen on the list of top symptoms for vaccinated people who get Covid.

So I went off for a PCR test and it came back negative.

I still feel dreadful, pretty much a week on. I’m so surprised it’s not Covid.
