Ive just served the inlaws who already hate me raw chicken burgers

Yup, cooked frozen chicken burgers and chips, in laws ‘popped round’ and me and dh gave them ours and put some more on for us, they gobbled them up, then ds the slow eater noticed they were pink and mushy in the middle.

I’m going to have to tell them, I’m already unpopular to say the least and this is my second offence in giving them off food, twice just looks malicious…
Might eat a pack of raw chicken breasts and end it all in a diarrhea vomity glory

The aldi ones? They are hardly chicken and I swear they are cooked already after 25 minutes they should be done

Is your oven OK?

GreenTeaBlackCoffeeAndRedWine · 02/10/2021 19:24

They're frozen chicken burgers, they'll be fine. Sounds like they were ok about it either way.

PyongyangKipperbang · 02/10/2021 19:25

I wouldnt be cooking for anyone who hates me, regardless of who they are. If they dont show you the respect you deserve in your own home then they dont get to eat in it!

I wouldn't worry too much, I used to cook myself Bernard matthews turkey drummers as a teenager and it wasn't til I was an adult I realised they weren't meant to be mushy in the middle. They never made me ill.

Wankerchief · 02/10/2021 19:25

Ovens fairly, new brought it last year, burgers were hot and the wedges cooked with them were cooked through.

This Thread last week was about frozen chicken burgers - I wonder if they're the same brand?

Hope you're ok, OP - as unfortunately (spoiler) the other OP wasn't particularly lucky.

Hawkins001 · 02/10/2021 19:30

I'll admit I'm a fast eater, usually because back in the day, it was 30mins or an hour to get in to dinner, via queing, unless.you had a dinner pass, it could take a while, then quickly get dinner, eat, then get to the library for assignment research books.

2tired2bewitty · 02/10/2021 19:30

On one of my first occasions at her house MIL served me a partially raw sausage (I think she’d just missed one when turning them over), I survived and married her son, but tend to avoid sausages at their house now.

Wankerchief · 02/10/2021 19:30

In fairness to the in laws, they don’t like me but are never rude to me and certainly not in my home. The dont snub me or leave me out
We just don’t gel and politely avoid taking unless needed. It works fine when I’m not killing them off.

It’s been 20 years I’m never going to be like them or bend to the family and that’s ok, we all love dh and the kids and use it as a common line in the sand.

I’ve made the same mistake with those Aldi burgers! Ours were pink and mushy too. We survived with no ill effects Grin.

StrongLegs · 02/10/2021 19:38

LOL! I cooked for my inlaws once and after that they used to say brightly "why don't we all go out to a nice restaurant?" when they came. They were not big fans of my cooking.

OneMorePieceofCheese · 02/10/2021 19:39

@Wankerchief I bought those exact burgers and had the exact same problem!

They were massive and needed at least an extra 10 mins in an oven.

I escaped getting ill though (after 3 bites before realising) so hopefully you will all be similarly lucky!

Wankerchief · 02/10/2021 19:41

Oooh it’s all the same burgers glad to hear you guys are still alive 😂
I’m hopeful they will be fine
Shame because I absolutely love theburgers
But don’t think I can bring myself to eat them again

Confused I'm confused , I really didn't think there was any raw meat inside of any ready made frozen chicken products , isn't it cooked already and then frozen?

@surreymum89 The posh Aldi ones aren't pre-cooked.
shouldistop · 02/10/2021 20:03

It says on the packaging that they're raw.

Hopefully they'll be ok. Food poisoning is horrible.

DrFoxtrot · 02/10/2021 20:05

My DP occasionally cooks following the exact instructions on the packet rather than checking the food and deciding it might need 5 minutes longer. I've been served undercooked chicken before, hard sweet potato fries...

Hopefully they'll be fine, OP.

anonymousanne · 02/10/2021 20:06

Don't tell them 🤷🏼‍♀️ I actually ate a raw chicken fillet the other week (thought it was pre cooked... 🤦‍♀️).
Didn't get any adverse reaction at all. But I do have a stomach of steel!

Those chicken burgers are different from the OP's ones. I regularly buy both and the thigh ones I always cook for longer now as I've had the misfortune of biting into a raw one Envy. The quarter pounder burgers in this thread I find cook quickly and don't need extra time. Hopefully they will be OK!
MrsR87 · 02/10/2021 20:13

It says in the instructions in the picture to wash your hands after handling raw poultry so that would indicate to me that they are raw.

Could it just be that the texture is a bit strange because they are frozen? I’ve never had a frozen chicken burger so I couldn’t possibly say, but when I’ve had other things that are frozen, they sometimes taste mushy compared to their fresh counterparts!

Hope everyone is okay!

Wankerchief · 02/10/2021 20:16

I couldn’t of not told them!
As embarrassing as it is it’s done now and I’d hate for them to feel iffy and not know why.

A few weeks ago I cooked a tray of aunt bessies Yorkshire puddings. DP had one and told me it was cold in the middle ! But I checked all the others and the were hot. So maybe it was a rogue raw one ?

Wankerchief · 02/10/2021 20:23

No such luck I think all must off been pink and mushy
Ds only had the one burger and his was the one we saw that was pink and mushy and our adult ds had two- he had eaten half of one and both of his were the same- however he micro nuked his and continued eating, even after I told him 😱

SisterAgatha · 02/10/2021 20:27

I always thought that type of chicken was pre cooked and you just warm it up (that’s how it’s possible to cook frozen chicken in just 20 mins).
