Vagina problem. Worried.

Basically there's something inside my vagina. Feels like a large smooth mass that I can run my finger all around but then it has a hole in too?! I realise how this sounds, I'm completely freaked out. I don't know how long it's been there as it's not an area I investigate too often but definitely felt normal last time I checked. Any ideas?! Prolapse? or something worse??

Sounds like your cervix

dementedpixie · 01/10/2021 18:35

How far in do you mean?

dementedpixie · 01/10/2021 18:36

If you're feeling quite far inside then yes it could be your cervix.

Would my cervix move down? It's never been that low before

Northernsoullover · 01/10/2021 18:37

If its prolapsed possibly?

ZednotZee · 01/10/2021 18:37

Its almost definitely your cervix.

Yes it can descend in ti the vagina depending on age and time of your cycle.

MinaPop · 01/10/2021 18:38

It moves throughout the month, gets very low sometimes. Is the lump at the back? That's where mine is when it's low.

AudTheDeepMinded · 01/10/2021 18:38

This is useful info on prolapse: www.infobloom.com/what-is-a-prolapsed-cervix.htm

Ingleduh · 01/10/2021 18:38

It'll be your cervix... It moves up and down depending on your menstrual cycle.

Mintlegs · 01/10/2021 18:38

If it is you might want to do some pelvic floor exercises to help raise it up over the weekend before you see your GP.

AnyFucker · 01/10/2021 18:39

Your cervix is lower at certain times of the month and also if you have ever given birth

It does sound like your cervix

Suzi888 · 01/10/2021 18:39

You need to make a doctor’s appointment or even the nurse should be able to let you know what’s happening. A prolapse feels like something heavy is in your vagina/ maybe also a dragging feeling.

FloatingAlien · 01/10/2021 18:41

Yes it moves position during your cycle, it's lower during ovulation

miniwolf · 01/10/2021 19:07

Ok thank you, I feel a bit calmer now knowing at least it's a part that's (more or less) meant to be there. Sound silly but having never touched my cervix before, I didn't know what it felt like!! Will get it checked o

OP I had this same query recently (age 43) and it think it is just dropping with age.
I asked at my smear and was told it was nothing to worry about and not prolapse (but do keep up pelvic floor exercises)

Shewholovedthethebanhills · 01/10/2021 20:01

I have a mild prolapse. Never asked the GP about it, stupidly. Are there particular pelvic floor exercises for prolapse or just the normal squeezing ones? Does anything make it worse that someone with a prolapse should avoid? Thank you for starting this thread, OP.

SmellyOldOwls · 01/10/2021 20:19

Mine goes ridiculously low the day before my period.

CorianderAndCream · 01/10/2021 21:07

Pretty sure that's your cervix. That's what mine feels like. A smooth forming circle with a hole.

Mines always very low. Always has been. Don't have kids and I can always easily touch it without any moving around

Northernsoullover · 01/10/2021 21:16

Bloody hell. I'm 49 and was unaware of a hydraulic cervix. Every day is a school day!

wtfisgoingonhere21 · 01/10/2021 21:33

@Northernsoullover

I've had a really shitty week and have found it bloody hard to raise a smile but your previous Comment regarding a hydraulic cervix has made my bloody evening and I've just laughed out loud and frightened the dog so thank you

So if I put on my appointment request - service needed for hydraulic cervix, descended beyond ground (pelvic) floor and causing obstruction - is that fine?

Or ‘unexpected cervix in bagging area’ might work Grin

I would pay you good money to actually write that.

@MilesOfSand I have just died laughing.
