So we have have a lot, mainly buy secondhand, but just want to see if there is anything I'm missing in terms of Christmas ideas. I have toddler DS & DD.

We have ..

Cars / vehicles inc remote control
& car mat/ track/ click clack

Small world -mainly plastic like cats , animals and some playmobil, few small wooden animals

Play kitchen with pans and food & till,

Duplo & Lego

Trains, wooden, plastic, Thomas

Balls & goal

Baby and pushchair ( we don't have a baby bath / highchair etc )

Magnetic tiles

Dinosaurs ( well, we have a couple)

Is there actually anything left to get? I will prob buy a play pass to an attraction each, but need something. Maybe more sophicated animals or horses something like that? I had looked at farms before and found them really expensive without the animals.

Dressing up?

Onebabyandamadcat · 30/09/2021 17:53

My DD (3 this weekend) loves her happyland stuff though that's just small world play I guess.

She enjoys role play, the drs kit is a particular favourite just now

He tent and play tunnel (pop up so can be easily put away)

A bowling set

Jigsaws and simple matching games

Her trampoline (again this floss up for storage)

The easel and chalk/paint

Play doh (though the mixing of colours sets my teeth on edge)

For her birthday this weekend we've got her a scooter

Colouring books and crayons or felt tips depending on ages. Basic craft box soccers glue collage etc

Musical toys (if you think can cope)

Large play items like scooter or balance bike

minipie · 30/09/2021 17:56

Hats (Mine loved hats!)
Tea set
Very basic jigsaws
Books - especially the ones with buttons that play sounds
Art stuff - aprons, paints, fingerpaints. Easel was popular at that age
Inflatable animal you sit on or space hopper
Hobby horse
Toy cleaning set

Not saying you should get all or any of these! Just ideas in case any grabs you

minipie · 30/09/2021 17:56

Oh had forgotten the pop up play tent and tunnel! We had the ikea ones they were great.

Sprogonthetyne · 30/09/2021 17:58

Sensory play stuff like gellibaff, orbeez or kinetic sand

Toddler friendly crafts, mine like sticker books or books were you fill the pen with water, then it makes the colours appear

Kid k'nex

Jigsaws / puzzles

DinosaurOfFire · 30/09/2021 17:58

Grapat and Grimms wooden toys- we have the rainbow, semi circles and long slat things plus the Grimms blocks and some grapat figures and they are still played with by my older kids now

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 30/09/2021 17:59

Balance bike or scooter

Kayjay2018 · 30/09/2021 18:01

My 17 month old has discovered an old box of stickle bricks at my parents and is obsessed! They are east to stick together and she loves putting them in and out of the tub.

Also, I do rotate her toys every few weeks, we put some away and I select (or rather she drags them out of) toys from the box. We have a few things that are always out but not many. She seems very excited when we do the change over

Balance bike/scooter/trike
Dressing up stuff
Mine loved some building things called Zoob
Sticklebricks
Fuzzy Felt
Long rolls of paper from Ikea, which he used to draw his own roads.
Aquadoodle mat for water painting
Books - you can never have too many books!

minipie · 30/09/2021 18:53

Oh yes those Galt colouring books with water pens. They were great for journeys and cafes.

ilovebagpuss · 30/09/2021 18:54

So much play value from blocks simple wooden ones and some like foam Lego that all stuck together.
Doctors kit in a little case I added some real out of date bandages etc as well so all the soft toys would come to clinic.
Play doh
One of those mats with a water pen that you draw all over then it dries out.

WellTidy · 30/09/2021 19:01

My suggestions are more creative based really -

Playdoh (Argos does brilliant multi pack tubs and tools which used to be 2 for £20, mine used to love the pizza set and the barber set in particular too)

Aquadraw - the big mat and the smaller cards

Collage stuff - great at this age as you could eg draw a massive ice cream sundae on A3 paper, but up different colour crepe or whatever, and they could use PVA to glue the pieces in the right areas

Easel with chalkboard and paints, ideally one of the sides being magnetic

TRIO

Those magnetic rods

Games - mr potato head was a big hit at this age, snap, Misfits and any of the age appropriate orchard toys games (more like 3 or 4+)

This is brilliant as they can do it independently, no longer sold by ELC but I’m sure it would be made by someone else button board

MotherWol · 30/09/2021 19:30

Outdoorsy things: binoculars, magnifying glass, compass, den kit, minibeast stuff

Indoor active play things: wobbel board, pikler/climbing frame

Dressing up box and clothes

Melissa and Doug do a really nice wooden stables, I got one on eBay complete with some Schleich horses and it’s been a real hit with DD.

00100001 · 01/10/2021 21:30

Oh, magnet tiles

SaintDrogo · 01/10/2021 21:49

Another vote for hats- mine alternates between a Viking hat with horns, or a fez.
Binoculars- learning resources ones have been dropped more times than I could count, but still look new.
Pirate ship- we have the fisher price one and a playmobil one, both used daily.

SalmonEile · 01/10/2021 22:35

Bath toys

What about musical instruments, xylophone keyboard?
