Appropriate NHS gift?

I had a procedure done yesterday which went a bit wrong and ended up with me fainting like a fool and just generally causing embarrassing mayhem for about an hour.

I was really well looked after by the two nurses who run the clinic. I want to buy them a gift but have no idea what to send them. Is this appropriate or welcome?

Does anyone have any ideas as to what I can buy for them? Many thanks!

Some fruit? I heard that many HCPs find themselves eating too much chocolate / too many biscuits that many people take in as thank you gifts.
Teabags / nice coffee? A hard to kill plant?

What about a clap-o-meter? Wink

Tina221 · 29/09/2021 19:45

I agree with pp that teabags or coffee would be nice. Handcream would be a lovely gift too 😍

Perhaps one of those small gift sets with a selection of mini hand creams in? If they're NHS workers their hands must be bone dry after having to sanitise them umpteen times a day. It'd be a thoughtful, useful gift x

My mum's just out after 5 days and she gave them a tin of Celebrations, they were over the moon

We're only allowed to accept small token gifts so the suggestion that others have made of nice fruit, hand cream etc is a lovely gesture that they'll really appreciate. One of the nicest thing to get is a card with your name in it and a personal message. It's so nice to feel appreciated and we need patient feedback for our revalidation.

I've been thinking the same thing. I could have posted this post. I too fainted last week in hospital and was kept in for observations, one lady there i was even sick on her shoes so I was thinking of doing the same as you. Ill be following for ideas Smile

A thoughtful card praising their bedside manner abs care would be well received as they can put it in their professional portfolio. Biscuits always go down well too

RuthW · 29/09/2021 20:34

Chocs and biscuits are always appreciated by us.

Kittykatmacbill · 29/09/2021 22:10

A thank you card outlining how their help went above and beyond etc for their professional portfolio. If you go for food make sure it’s individually wrapped (although maybe not if it’s fruit!)

kizzywizz · 29/09/2021 22:12

A box of black ballpoint pens.

MonkeyPuddle · 29/09/2021 22:14

A card. With the nurses names in. Firstly it’s lovely to have a thank you card and secondly I can photocopy it (blanking out other people’s names) and use it as part of my revalidation paperwork! Win win!

EllaPaella · 29/09/2021 22:16

I am a nurse and would honestly love to have a hand written card with a few words in than anything else.

Inspirationpending · 29/09/2021 22:16

Hand cream is always fought over on my ward, so definitely a great gift.
Hope you are all better now OP

sorrysaywhatnow · 29/09/2021 22:17

Yes yes a nice card with a message of gratitude. Something shareable like biscuits always go down well too! :)

desperatelyseekingcaffeine · 29/09/2021 22:20

A card and some nice tea or coffee for the staff room, usually we buy our own in the NHS and it's the cheapest stuff going!!

GrowThroughWhatYouGoThrough · 29/09/2021 23:02

Chocolate and biscuits are always appreciated on our ward and a card we put them up for everyone to read
