Something you dislike but everyone loves

Was watching a music countdown the other day and one of the songs from dirty dancing came on, I casually mentioned to my mum how I like the song but dislike the movie.... my mum almost lost her shit....
Like it was a criminal offence to not like it.
Tell me something you dislike but everyone loves..
Can be anything 😊

RickySpanishhh · 29/09/2021 21:28

@Ashleighz88 how lovely of you to laugh at someone’s debilitating phobia

IWanderedLonely · 29/09/2021 21:31

Almost all fish. Phobic of bones.

But I eat tuna, halibut, and most sushi/sashimi as I have never been surprised by a bone in them.

I also don’t care to much for cats... I just don’t get them and just genuinely prefer dogs.

You don't need to 'get' a cat. Cats just are.
10Cheethahcubs · 30/09/2021 06:59

@RickySpanishhh why not just then say you are phobic of dogs? Pretty much everyone would understand this and sympathise. The aggressive tone you talk about dogs doesn't do you any favours.

AlfonsoTheDinosaur · 30/09/2021 07:35

I like cats and dogs and animals in general and have no problem with people not liking them.

hanketypankety · 30/09/2021 07:40

Also the use of DH/DD/DS etc on here. We are usually all moaning about them so they are not 'dear' to us.....can't we just write husband or H??Wink

I think it's a practical copy-editing decision - in type-setting it is known that stand alone letters or figures get overlooked - and as it refers to the subject it's important that it's seen.

Pet ownership creeps me right out. Why can’t we leave poor animals alone. Dogs on leads,‘training’, when you think about it is pretty messed up. But people say can’t be without their dogs and cats and whatever….and then you have guide dogs, search dogs etc doing a brilliant job who appear to enjoy it.

I don’t know, it all seems a bit narcissistic, animals put here to serve and please us. ‘I need to get a dog/cat because I love them’. Well you don’t need a sentient being to be ripped from its mother to entertain or work for you for the rest of its life, you want that.

That doesn’t make you an animal lover surely.

unsportyspice · 30/09/2021 08:01

Alcohol, cheese, James Bond films, hard potter.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 30/09/2021 08:17

Spa days.
Massages.
Anything else they like to call ‘pampering’ that involves taking your clothes off and having random strangers mauling you about.

What I call pampering means at the least, someone else doing all the tedious, useful things I ought to be doing, while I chill on the sofa with a good book. And making me a cup of tea while they’re at it.

Mine are all rescues. My cats come and go as they please and my dog rarely goes on a lead and has free reign of the house. Pretty sure they're happy
ohthestruggles · 30/09/2021 09:32

Mumfluencers. Women who film themselves 'speed cleaning' and drinking cups of tea. 🙄

You do know that these dogs are trained to guide, search, retrieve etc? Hmm

Ashleighz88 · 30/09/2021 09:57

@Sunshineshow that makes absolutely no sense, so it's NOT ok to have them them live with you , get treated like royalty and pretty much rule the house but it is ok to have them in full on training schemes like guide dogs where they are literally serving humans?

The reality is if dogs were left to their own devices, they would all die because of human civilisation/starvation. They cannot cross a road safely, hence the lead. If anyone's been to an abroad country where dogs are left roaming it's very very upsetting as they are starved to death.

By the same point you are making, I assume you also don't agree with people having children and keeping them hostage for 18 years?

salmon, sushi, gin, the countryside
