Gorgeous but unpretentious retreat - any recommendations?

My lovely friends are getting married at the end of the year and I'm wondering what to give them. I know they've always fancied doing some kind of "retreat" one day, by which they mean somewhere peaceful, rural, maybe with pampering options like a spa. So I've been thinking of treating them to a couple of nights away (longer if possible, obvs, but max budget is about £500 total).

My eyes are out on stalks after hours on TripAdvisor and I still seem no closer to finding the perfect place. It would need to be:

Pet friendly (they have a tiny dog)
Gay friendly (they are both female)
Friendly, kind hosts with a good sense of humour
Unpretentious
Not wildly expensive to do things in the area (e.g. pub meals)
Not too far from the south coast

I really want to make sure they are in the right environment as they are the sweetest people in the whole world and also rather shy. It would be awful to send them somewhere to be tortured with frosty politeness or where they'd be expected to join in chanting sessions or something. I want them to completely relax, not feel intimidated by the experience.

I wondered if anyone had any recommendations?

Yes, @footchewer, I am increasingly thinking that the spa would have to be a one-off visit so that they can escape back to safety 😋

Babington House looks gorgeous, but the site is surprisingly cagey about listing prices... a bit like those posh clothes stores where if you need to see a price tag, you shouldn't have gone in! 😉 It seems to be members only...?

PS. Love the Aller Dorset place @PennineWayinSlingbacks! We would definitely have been interested if it had existed when we were on honeymoon down on the Dorset coast years ago!

And the outdoor bath is giving me some serious ideas about our garden. DP is about to find out we have a new project to be getting on with ...

Hmmm Babs certainly used to let non-members in (we weren't members). It's not cheap - but then what spa is? The mud thing was maybe £160 but that was ten years ago (maybe it was more, sorry it's so long ago!); for us it was an upper-edge-of-affordability honeymoon treat.

Maybe the members-only thing is a temporary covid-related restriction? Sorry not to be more help.

Thermae Bath Spa as an alternative? Rooftop hot pool? The public parts get fairly busy and i've never done anything private/treatment-y there but it is still a very cool place. Then you're in the centre of Bath for the rest of the day...
