Anyone from London? Best way to get from Heathrow to the Palladium? Approx cost?

I'm going to London for the first time ever in a few days, What would be the best/cheapest way for us to get from Heathrow to the Palladium? Would anyone know approx how much it would be for a taxi or an uber, Or would we be better getting a train? There will be three of us and we are planning on splitting all costs, Just trying to get a general idea before we go. One of us is disabled (mobility) so I'm trying to sort everything out now before we leave to make it as easy as possible once we are there.

Thanks.

Take Piccadilly line to Green Park, all step free access. Then change to Jubilee line, and go to Bond Street, also step free. Walk or take a bus down Oxford Street.

All can be done using contactless in a card or phone.

Probably an Uber usually - but at the moment with fuel shortages maybe not. Heathrow Express is fast, but quite expensive and there are plenty of black cabs at Victoria.

Whstdoyouthink · 28/09/2021 21:36

Hey, a black cab would cost you at least £80 dependent on timing-if worst traffic, eg rush hour you’re looking at significantly more.

Uber I would have thought £45-as above on traffic

Cheapest is the tube, Piccadilly line, will cost all three of you about £20. Will take about an hour (do check those which are disability friendly which you can see on the tube map)

Quickest way is Heathrow express, just 15 mins into paddington and then you can hop in a black cab and just 10 min drive. I think it’s £25 each.

If it was me then I would go with the guaranteed time of Heathrow express, unless you are driving in at 2am in the morning I think the traffic is too unpredictable

Have fun

Well depends how disabled
Oxford Circus underground is 0.1 miles from the Palladium.
The actual distance between Heathrow and the Palladium is 16 to 18 miles depending on method of transport.
I don’t know whether Uber do a quote several days before.
Again it all really depends on how disabled

gogohm · 28/09/2021 21:47

Piccadilly line, direct, far quicker than other options

gogohm · 28/09/2021 21:48

Walk from Piccadilly Circus should add, under 10 mins

gogohm · 28/09/2021 21:49

Or take an Uber the last mile

RaoulDufysCat · 28/09/2021 21:50

Piccadilly Circus is not step free. If OP's group can manage escalators and steps it is a good option.

coachmylife · 28/09/2021 21:53

I think Heathrow Express is a total swizzled. Dumps you in Paddington (poor disabled access and miles from anywhere).

Standard tube isn't fast, but by the time you've lumped around changing trains, finding a taxi etc. I am sure it will be the speediest, and definitely the least stressful.

I'm assuming not a wheelchair user, if an Uber is an option. If wheelchair, then you'll need to get out at Green Park and get a cab. Otherwise it's about 100 yards from Oxford Circus tube.

If you're changing at Green Park you'd take the Victoria line to Oxford Circus. Then no need for a bus.

It's safe to say a taxi will be a lot more expensive than the tube, especially a black cab.

But it's difficult to say when we don't know the extent of the disability. "Best" doesn't necessarily equal cheapest if there are other factors to take into account.

Oxford Circus isn't step free. We don't know what the disabled member of the party can cope with.

The TfL journey planner allows you to specify access requirements. You have to run a simple search from the main webpage tfl.gov.uk then when you get the result, in the grey box with your journey info you can select 'Edit preferences', and you can then chose types of step-free access required, exclude types of transport or specify the maximum time you want to walk.

Thank you everyone. I forgot to mention her disability, She can walk using a walking stick but normally uses her mobility scooter, she will not be taking the scooter with her. She can walk but it causes her pain to do so, I would say a ten minute walk would be the maximum she could do.

Well it’s less than a 10 min walk from Oxford street tube. There are escalators but then steps at the tube station. You want the south east exit at Oxford street which is actually labelled Argyll street where the palladium is. As you come out right east along Oxford street about 20 yards then right down Argyll st and it’s on your left.
I’d definitely recommend tube rather than any form of taxi - generally (wil be expensive) and especially currently with bad lack of black cabs Addison Lee etc exacerbated now by petrol diesel problems. The only thing I’d consider would be to Orr book an Addison Lee (fixed price) but even then they e become very unreliable. I nearly missed a wedding in august because they were over 30 mins late and they’ve become worse and worse since then.

Comefromaway · 29/09/2021 13:01

Oxford Circus Station is literally a 2 minute walk from the Palladium (longer obviously for someone with poor mobility) so if she can manage toe walk out of the tube station, that's probably easiest.
