Legoland Windsor for a small 7 year old?

Is this a mad idea? Will be just me and her, or possibly me her and my sibling. No other children though.

She’s over 105cms but not quite 110cm, probably won’t have grown much by the time she wants to go (half term so about 4-5 weeks away). She’s smaller than some of the Reception children at school but not all, if she was in Reception she’d be average (she’s year 3 but knows the YR DC as one of her classmates has twin siblings in the Reception classes).

But she’s desperate to go, her friends at school have been and loved it but I’m worried she’ll be too small for most of the rides so it’ll be a flop out of a day.

So is it worth it for a small 7 year old? Or will she not get much fun out of it?

She’ll be able to go on all but a few rides, although you’ll have to accompany her for a lot of them. There’s also Miniland, Creature Creation, the 4D, the reef and all the live shows. I’d definitely go if I were you.

PersephoneJames · 28/09/2021 07:14

My Lego obsessed 7 yr old was tall enough to go on all the rides but they are so so tame. We go to lots of theme parks all over Europe and he’s a bit of a thrill seeker. He was desperately trying to convince himself it was good. I’d save your money. The absolute best part is the model bit.

BettyBe · 28/09/2021 07:17

She would be able to go on most of the rides at Paultons Park. There are some good rollercoasters there.

@PersephoneJames and @BettyBe
We can't do rollarcoasters due to the reasons for her being so small, so tame is good but I don't want her to be bored.

We're in the midlands and have done Cbeebies and Thomas Land when she was younger but she's a bit bored of them now so wanted something new that's more child friendly and won't be boring. She keeps asking to do Legoland.

Any other suggestions welcome.

Legoland will be perfect for her, it is absolutely designed for all people, have fun!

PersephoneJames · 28/09/2021 08:06

Without the rides (which aren’t great anyway) there’s a show and a puppet show and the models at the end. It isn’t like Disney or Efteling with lots of characters to meet and scenes or shows everywhere). Efteling in the Netherlands was really special, we heard about it on mumsnet and it’s been our favourite so far. In the UK Paultons was quite good. Drusillas park somewhere in Kent was a surprise hit for us if rides aren’t important. Oh and Groombridge Place is magical and not very known about - no rides but an enchanted forest!

Legoland was (in my opinion!) rubbish, but if she’s asking to go she will want to go until she’s been! Make sure you get a 2 for 1 offer as it’s seriously overpriced as it is. Go out of school time (we did AND mid COVID but it was still heaving). DS was happiest on the ninjago ride which is where you sit on a car which takes you round a series of 3D cinema screens. And there’s a great water park bit but only when it’s hot. I’d like to try the Copenhagen one for comparison.

Legoland is great for first time visits to a theme park, lots of rides for smaller children. The rides aren’t big, so there is s lot of queuing, so get a map from website and decide what you want to do first. I don’t know if you still have to pre book, as tickets were selling out.

PoshWatchShitShoes · 28/09/2021 08:33

I think you'll all have a great time. I'd 100% recommend that you buy the fast passes. It's very expensive, but saves the ridiculously long queuing and you get to go on everything in one day. I justified it by thinking I'd rather go once a year and do that, rather than twice a year and queue.

Have fun

YogaLite · 28/09/2021 08:40

Perfect age to do it I'd say, we used to have an annual pass during the primary school age, after that it was too "young".

FightingtheFoo · 28/09/2021 10:38

We're seasoned theme park goers - have been to ones in the US, Asia and Europe - and think Legoland is excellent. We're not thrill seekers - we're there for the "theme" and entertainment - and Legoland ticks all the boxes.

We've been going since DC was a toddler and there's plenty to do so am sure your DD will be fine.

TuckMyWin · 28/09/2021 10:44

There was enough there to keep my 5 year old occupied for 2 days. She’ll be fine.

terrywynne · 28/09/2021 10:45

Most of the rides you only need to be 1m if you are with an adult. We took reception aged DC who was just over 1m and there were about only 2 rides we couldn't go on and the larger driving school. That last one might be the main issue as the baby driving school will be a bit tame for a 7 year old. I think she'll be the perfect age - young enough that the tamer rides won't be too boring but tall enough to go on almost all of the rides.

terrywynne · 28/09/2021 10:48

Though if there are medical reasons for avoiding roller coasters that will cut down what is available to do. But there are live shows, and the undersea ride through the fish tank is cool, and there is the area with all the models of European cities to look at. I would have a browse of their website or app - I think you can filter by height to see what is available.

RumblyMumbly · 28/09/2021 10:49

Perfect age. Legoland buildings to look at too. Fire ride. She can take her legoland driving licence. Submarine ride, & a halloween house thing, log flume. Definitely won't be bored.

MamaEs · 28/09/2021 10:50

My six year old barely went on any rides. She doesn't really like them. She is Lego mad and still absolutely loved the day.

She really enjoyed the pirate show and the Lego friends show. And she loved the duplo area and mini land

squashyhat · 28/09/2021 10:59

Drusillas is in East Sussex not Kent.

We wunt be druv

We LOVE Legoland and I can't quite understand the hate it seems to garner here (beyond the ridiculous queue times). If she's ok with gentle rides then it's a perfect day out. There's also the splash park if the weather is good

Imabitbusyatthemoment · 28/09/2021 12:07

Perfect theme park for small children. We had preschool passes and went often. There is loads to do aside from the big rides. Also (non-babyish) plenty of rides that even my preschoolers were tall enough for.

Pack your own food and drink and eat it while watching the shows. 🙂

Equimum · 28/09/2021 12:45

As others have said, she'll be fine. Our six year old is a similar height and there was plenty he could go on, as long as an adult went with him.

LegoLovingGirl · 28/09/2021 13:47

Happy to go on the rides with her, thats why I go! Thank you everyone will take a look at the website and book tickets.
