Certainly not laughing all the way to the bank.
So wage slip has come through, after the 'arrears' they then took it back and more so in tax , pension etc. Even had pension arrears!
My wage is less than it was before! How's that.
Considering something like 91% of Rcn voted no.
Who in their right mind voted yes?

And yes before people start I know I'm lucky to have a job blah blah.

Yup - it amounted to an extra £100 for 6 months. I can hardly contain my excitement.

drinkingwineoutofamug · 27/09/2021 06:32

Ooooo @HandforthParishCouncilClerk what you spending it on? New shoes ? Handbag? Or energy bills 😒

Newly qualified band 4 worked out about £85 for 6 months

Yes, it worked out correctly. Wish it was more and feel staff do deserve more, but at least it is a rise I suppose.

Not sure why you think you ended up with less wage than before though? You will get a bit more each month going forward too

Stealthynamechange · 27/09/2021 06:48

I ended up breaking even despite extra pay -had extra deductions inc pension arrears. I'm dreading the ni increase coming in.

Foreverbaffled · 27/09/2021 06:51

Nope! Because April-September coincided with the end of my maternity leave (just getting statutory maternity pay) I wasn't entitled. Disappointing.

CommanderBurnham · 27/09/2021 06:52

Nope

Foreverbaffled · 27/09/2021 06:52

Oh and a colleague was pushed up into the next pension bracket so has lost money. Add in 6 months of pension arrears and she is down £600 this month. So upsetting for her.

Mirrorxx · 27/09/2021 06:54

3% is still more than most people got

Donatella · 27/09/2021 06:55

Haven't looked at my payslip but what's gone in to my bank is definitely more than usual. Not sure how much of that is the pay rise as I had also put in an on call claim. Probably about £100-£150 for the pay rise though (mid band 6).

UseOfWeapons · 27/09/2021 06:56

Yes, got mine. When you break down the fact that is the backdated pay rise from April, it’s not a lot. Will await next month’s pay to see how much it translates to on a normal month.
I voted not to accept the pay rise in the RCN poll, but we’ll have to see how that pans out.

I was £56 down. Due to arrears taken. My hourly rate has gone up by 25p . Party time. Will see like other posters what my wage will be next month but won't be booking that holiday to Barbados anytime soon

I think you've probably gone up into the next pension bracket. The more you earn the higher percentage you pay into your pension

You make it sound like your take home this month was down because of the raise - but surely it's down because of unconnected arrears and what you got would have been lower still without the raise?

I had nearly £700 deductions. I earn less qualified than I did top band 3. Due to pension band etc Like I said will see if next months pay balances it out

Those paying large arrears must have gone into the next pension bracket like PP said.

I paid about £45 pension arrears and got the backdated wage on my normal wages plus the few overtime shifts I worked during that time. Saw about £250 in pocket but that may be band dependent (7)

gingercatsparky · 27/09/2021 07:25

This thread makes me so sad. It's a disgrace nhs workers were given such a poor pay rise and how much they are paid in the first place. I signed a partition to give them more but clearly the government don't value them.

MyMushroomsInATimeSlip · 27/09/2021 07:25

No because I moved to a gp practice and they don't follow government wage increases Sad
