Had anyone noticed a reduction in contact with friends? I think as a result of covid?

I've noticed such a reduction in contact from friends that I now only hear from 1 really and another who is in a different country.

But me and DH had a few couples we would see fairly regularly (all have kids so has been tricky finding free days we can all get together...that's normal I know and that's not the issue)...but what I've noticed is that none of them ever get in touch with us.
It's always been us having folk round for dinner or inviting them out or for days for the kids etc.
So I've kinda just left them all to it recently and I've heard not a peep!

I'm 31 weeks pregnant and I haven't heard from two id say I was pretty close to since June! This was when they were supposed to come over and catch up, see our new house then go to a kiddies farm. They cancelled saying their son had been contacted by test and trace but then never heard back to rearrange.

Not even a "how are you keeping?" Type txt or anything at all.

So I was just wondering if covid has made people just not arsed about keeping in touch any more. I feel a bit sad
I'm also ill currently taking antibiotics so maybe I'm just feeling down.

Yes! I've stopped contacting people who don't make an effort. I love socialising and finding out how friends are, but one-sided friendship is rubbish and I can't be bothered with it.

Yes that's how I feel, like why should we always be the ones to keep it going? But it makes me sad at the realisation that they don't care after years of being friends.

Yes, I'm part of a few WhatsApp groups and had noticed that there's been much less contact since the start of the pandemic. I think it's partly that for a long time, no one was doing anything or going anywhere so we all had nothing to say and just got out of the habit.

However, I kind of enjoyed not having any plans for ages. It made me realise I was doing too much before and I don't want to go back to how it was. I will admit that there are some people I am reluctant to get in contact with because I know that the conversation will ultimately turn to them suggesting we meet up and I already feel really busy again.

So does that mean they are always at the bottom of the list?

No, there isn't a list. I'm offering suggestions as to why people may be in contact less. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Myself and a few old friends have been in contact more, not physically as all hundreds of miles apart and one is thousands away in Australia.

My actual geographically close friends about the same apart from one neighbour friend , we have seen each other a lot more. There is one local friend who I lost contact with, I thought it was a shame at first but on reflection we are very different and I don’t miss her.
