What trainers are your teen boys wearing?

My DSS is about to turn 13 and has asked for trainers. His Mum is very traditional so I'm the one that generally buys his "cool" clothes but I've absolutely no idea about what he needs for his feet!

With no help, I'd go for Nike AF1s but I have a pair and I'm not sure how well that would go down!

All ideas welcome! Please! Help!

Waterproof trainers from one of those outdoor shops. He isn't fussed about brands.

Nike Jordan high tops. They come in various colours, although some colours are more expensive than others.
DS is after a grey/black/white pair, but I'm not paying£400!
