Send help please.

I'm such an idiot. Why did I drink so much gin last night. It was just me and DH in front of the tv.

I have 5 in laws appearing for a roast at 1.30. Cooking meat is making me want to vom.

Face palm.

Get some berocca down you.

Oldraver · 26/09/2021 12:17

I've sent DH to Waitrose for ready made Yorkshire puddings. I can't face doing my own today.

I'd tell him to get almost ready made everything and the prepared veg in a bag you chuck in the microwve

Are you going to be able to eat any of it ?

ancientgran · 26/09/2021 12:20

@ANameChangeAgain

He's never cooked a roast in his life then it's about time he learned.
Doesn't it depend who invited them. If OP did the inviting I don't see why he has to do the cooking. If he did the inviting then definitely down to him.
toomuchlaundry · 26/09/2021 12:23

@ancientgran I think it is more the fact that he has never cooked one in his life. What happens if the OP was incapacitated for other reasons rather than self indulgence, would Sunday dinner be off because he couldn’t cook a piece of meat

languagelover96 · 26/09/2021 12:24

Buy hot roast chicken. Serve them with fresh cooked vegetables and wine or coffee. Sending prayers your way.

speakout · 26/09/2021 12:25

If in laws come- OH does the cooking.

It is my job to light candles, look gorgeous and drink gin.

OP let your OH do the cooking, take a large gin with you to the bath tub and make yourself look lovely- you will be right as rain by the time they arrive.

HemanOrSheRa · 26/09/2021 12:26

I'd ask DH to get you a pack of those stubby french lagers. A couple of those, ice cold, will sort you out. Don't be getting all excited when you feel better and start drinking again. You are only delaying the inevitable.

GrandmaSteglitszch · 26/09/2021 12:29

I'm glad DH is keeping busy.

I'm about to try a cold lager. Wish me luck.

I did the same on Friday night. Got carried away blowing off steam after a shit week at work. I think I had 8 pints Blush I had a haircut booked the next morning and knew I wasn't going to drink much Confused... I necked a fry up and coffee, managed to get through the haircut without too much nausea and then got a mcdonalds straight afterwards Grin

In your shoes it would be hair of the dog and/or deliveroo big mac Grin

HemanOrSheRa · 26/09/2021 12:48

I'm about to try a cold lager. Wish me luck. Good luck CattingT! This always worked for me in my drinking days. Little sips, mind. Don't go chugging it down thinking it will cure that horrid dry mouth feeling Envy. As I say, don't get overexcited if it makes you feel better Grin.

SunshineCake1 · 26/09/2021 12:53

Hope you feel better soon.

Nanananani · 26/09/2021 12:54

Is that a cough you’ve just got? That’s a shame… best cancel and get a pcr

ParadiseLaundry · 26/09/2021 12:54

@Haveyoubrushedyourteethtoday

Rotisserie chicken.
I read this and was like 'Yes, that's a good suggestion. Eating a whole rotisserie chicken would definitely help if I had a hangover'. I'm then I realised you meant to serve to the guests instead of cooking one!

You need two rotisserie chickens? Op, as well as drinking again.

OldTinHat · 26/09/2021 12:55

I hope you get through the lunch and that the beer is helping. I'm still in bed nursing a hangover, haven't got up apart from to be sick 🤢 Luckily I'm on my own and don't have anything planned. You're a stronger woman than me!

Loyaultemelie · 26/09/2021 12:56

I wish you luck. I haven't done this for a while but sipping rum and fanta helped. I don't drink rum (gin was the culprit of the hangover) but it saved the day

diddl · 26/09/2021 13:02

Tbh I'd probably just be in bed & leaving him to it!

TerraNovaTwo · 26/09/2021 13:18

In bru
Pain killers
Carbs
Full breakfast and orange juice

HermioneKipper · 26/09/2021 13:21

Where in the south east are you OP? I am too and there’s Toby Carveries everywhere!

Anyway beside the point, get a ready made pudding in, ready made gravy, microwave veg from waitrose and the oven can do the rest of the work

TurquoiseDragon · 26/09/2021 13:22

@gamerchick

Get some berocca down you.
Genuinely, what good does this do? It's just fizzy vitamins. I've never understood why people reckon it's good for hangovers.

Mind you, it was always good for telling who had a hangover when we still worked in the office. You could see the tubes on their desks. Grin

RumJerrySailorRum · 26/09/2021 13:26

Own your hang over.

Just tell them you've got one and can they help you.

I've always been upfront about hanging and I've always had sympathy and been taken care of.

But, get your DH to buy you orange and lime tic tacs. They will cure you, I promise.

TheChosenTwo · 26/09/2021 13:26

Oh ouch, I’ve definitely been there before! Thankfully dh does the cooking here so I was just pottering about head in my hands moving things into cupboards under the guise of tidying up!
What are your in laws like? Mine are bloody lovely to be fair, I made my excuses shortly after eating and had to have a lie down, felt terribly guilty as they’re such nice people Blush
How long do you think they’ll stay for?

bellabelle1994 · 26/09/2021 13:27

Are you sure you've not been pinged by the app?
Best of luck 🤣

Daisy829 · 26/09/2021 13:27

Can you go back to bed for an hour? Probs not socially acceptable but I’ve been known to do this when hungover & my mil was round! She doesn’t want to see me anyway she’s just here for the kids.

gamerchick · 26/09/2021 13:30

I don't know how it works One during the drinking and one in the morning. Definitely takes the edge off.
