anyone else struggling for cat food?

There is some locally, but mine are quite fussy, and its not like I can explain Brexit to them and appeal for flexibility....

I had all my hope pinned on a tesco delivery, but it has just arrived with the cat food component missing.

I hope this isn't going the same way as cat litter, which has been hit and miss for about 18 months.

Nope. Not my experience. I havent struggled for cat litter or food.

Please dont add to the hysteria.

pussycatlickinglollyices · 26/09/2021 12:49

Lets it's hardly hysteria, it just a few people advising others where might have some stock of the food that their feline overlord will eat and litter to poo in 😻

We've had a few issues with cat food pouches, but nothing serious.
It's those pesky aliens in District 9. They've been hoarding it all.

My cats are quite fussy and we did have some issues getting their preferred brand earlier this year but luckily they did eat something else.

No issues with cat litter.

I got the last pack of whiskers in tesco last night. Every week its shortage of something else 🤷‍♀️

EastWestWhosBest · 26/09/2021 14:18

I haven’t found it a struggle. I ordered some from Fetch last week. They are the pet food arm of Ocado. They are undergoing a rebranding this weekend so their website is down.

If anyone is interested in trying their cats on a raw diet I can recommend Purr Form. I started mademoiselle on it for her digestive problems and she’s all sorted. It’s been 6 months now.

What @BarbaraofSeville said
I never pay full price for anything! I'm lucky enough to have a spare room but stash stuff in there. Stuff like boots had hand wash for 10p, shampoo (usually £10) for 50p, toilet rolls, cat food, marmite rice cakes when Amazon had an offer. Anything with a long shelf life
My dad is Hmm until covid hit and I was the only with 10 hand washes already stocked, 5 bars of soap and enough food to last 6 weeks
Plus it's cheaper!

@BarbaraofSeville

A storecupboard is something you build up to over time, starting ideally well before you need it, ie not in the middle of a global pandemic combined with the Brexit fallout.

One extra tin (or packet of pasta etc) a week is a good place to start, buy a big pack when you see something on offer, that sort of thing and after a while you find you need toilet rolls one week, beans the next, washing powder the week after, then shampoo, and it all kind of looks after itself.

It's how I've always done it as it makes sense to me, there's a whole list of non perishables that I've never paid full price for and when I hear about people who have set list that they buy week to week, like 4 toilet rolls and one tin of beans a week instead of a 16 pack of toilet roll and 4 pack of beans once a month where the unit cost far cheaper, it seems a strange way to do things (and these are not people who don't have the money or space for a few extra groceries).

yes, I have always also done this, I generally have around 2 months pet care products in the cupboard under the stairs, however month after month of hit and miss supplies in local shops have meant that I am now running very low
