I’ve just had three coffees to fight through the flu fog - it worked! That got me thinking- I always eat rice for a stomach upset, garlic and honey for a cold etc. What unusual foods do you use to cure your ailments?

Tea for everything ! Cramps, nausea , bloating, flue, headache. It works

Not unusual but for a cold I have hot honey and lemon with a shot of whisky at bedtime.
Hangover, full fat coke.
Feeling rundown, cup of tea with a sugar (I don't usually have sugar in my tea).

Black tea 2 sugars after a sickness bug perks you up.

Hot milk with honey and a raw egg yolk for a cold .
My mum used to give us this as kids and it always made us feel better !
My own daughter wouldn't touch it though .

Ginger - chews, lozenges, tea, ginger beer, ginger ale - for nausea or upset stomach.

Add in a little thickening agent like cornflour, a dash of vanilla, heat up whilst whisking it and you could be drinking a cup of hot custard - which might sound more appealing to your daughter?

After any sort of sickness bug - cheese on toast with a poached egg.

Homemade veggie soup for a cold/general bleugh feeling.

NeverDropYourMoonCup DD1 always asks for Custard with a sprinkle of cinnamon on top when Unwell, sometimes it’s the only thing she’d eat.

Growing up , we had a nanny who would serve us ground rice pudding with spices like cinnamon , anise star and ginger when fluey . Served in bed it always made us feel much better 🥲.

I have always given my DC a mashed banana if they are feeling poorly - not really sure how it started but now they are teenagers and still ask for it Smile has to be mashed though, a normal banana doesn't cut it Hmm
