Has anyone got a hotpoint tumble drier that dries to still dampish??

Got one second hand, it works ok but doesn't dry stuff to really dry, it seems to dry it to iron dry, which to me is damp still. I dont want dampish towels etc. Reading reviews online this seems to be normal but i hate it. Im having to try different programs to get stuff dry. I cant set it and just leave it i have to put it on again when its finished as its not dry enough for me. As l said it works fine, just not drying enough for me.

Has anyone sorted this?

Have you checked that all of the filters are clean? Clogged filters can cause this. There's often a hidden one or two that you can miss.

Ours has “iron dry” and “cupboard dry” settings/programmes.

Yes i set it for cupboard dry but its still dampish

I want it bone dry and fluffy

Our last tumble drier did that but it was because it was faulty (the bearings were gone apparently). I also second check EVERY filter though.

I'll check the filters

Check filters although some dryers are just shit. Ours is 'smart', not Hotpoint, but currently needs putting on 4 times before things are dry because it switches itself off when it thinks it's done. It's a pain in the arse and costing me a fortune.

Clean the filters and also check the door seal for fluff/animal hair.

mineofuselessinformation · 24/09/2021 17:11

If it's a condenser model, check that the water container is empty, and that the condenser unit isn't bunged up with fluff.

Ours is a Hotpoint and does the same. It is supposed to sense when dry and then stop. In fact it senses when slightly damp and then stops. I could spend every waking moment cleaning filters and the bastard still wouldn't dry clothes until they're actually dry. My solution is to underload and then put it on a timed dry rather than sensor (don't know if yours has that obviously) for a squillion hours per load which just about gets it there. It's a tumble drier - you'd imagine the one thing it should be able to do is dry clothes!

Is yours a heat pump version? Ours is and I've been so frustrated by how shit it is but scared to buy a new one in case that's what they're all like.

Yes mine is smart too, that seems to be the problem

I think I'll sell it and buy an old fashioned basic one

I’ve got one - things come out damp if there’s a mixture of heavy and lightweight items, eg jeans and leggings. I take out the dry items and leave the heavy ones to finish off.

OwlBasket · 24/09/2021 18:01

It’ll have moisture sensors somewhere. Hopefully google can help. You need to clean them with white vinegar. It REALLY helps.

Ulysses · 24/09/2021 18:06

Ours has a lint filter and there’s also one where the condenser is that you need to flush out with water. It makes a big difference when this is done. I’ve got a hot point with an anti allergy setting that runs longest and use that if I’ve got a big load.

Sunshinegirl82 · 24/09/2021 18:09

We have a hot point dryer and when this happens it usually means the big filter at the bottom (behind the flip down panel) needs cleaning out.

JuneOsborne · 24/09/2021 19:43

Have you tried putting a big dry towel into the wet load too? Soak up some of the excess ?
