What toys for your 3-4 year old girls like?

HalloHello · 24/09/2021 08:25

I don't have a lot of friends with this age group of girls so wondering if I could have some advice. Christmas then birthday coming up obviously! She already has barbies, babies, kitchen etc and all the outdoor stuff she could want but would love some new ideas please!

This thread is quite old now so some of the suggestions may be out of date, but if you’ve landed here looking for toy or gift ideas for three-year-olds, we’ve recently updated our best toys for 3-year-olds page with lots of great options, as tried and tested by Mumsnet users and their kids. We hope you find it useful. Flowers

Sylvanian families.
Lego juniors.

Bordois · 24/09/2021 08:36

Personally, as the mother of an almost 3 year old, I wouldn't want any more toys or games. I always ask for things like pyjamas or clothing sets that will get used.

MonkeysSwiningFromTheTrees · 24/09/2021 08:37

Lego, the smaller 4+ sets are easier to build.
Sylvanian families
Playmobil
Books

Board games

My daughter will be 3 next week and she loves all sorts of vehicles, knex, Duplo, magformers, jigsaws, board games (like tummy ache, lotto etc), art things, books, anything paw patrol related, baking, kinetic sand etc. For her birthday I'm getting her modelling clay, toddler rollerskates, a kite, a toy helicopter, and some books.

MuchTooTired · 24/09/2021 08:38

Duplo for my 3.5 year old daughter, or magnetic squares.

MotherWol · 24/09/2021 08:42

I agree with @Bordois, look for things they’ll use up rather than more ‘stuff’. Pyjamas, pants & socks, hat & gloves etc. Sticker books, colouring/drawing books and fun bubble bath are also good for that age group.

PalacesOfMontezuma · 24/09/2021 08:46

Kinetic sand
Play Doh
Hobby horse
Lego
Board games (Hoot Owl Hoot and lots of the Orchard games were favourites here).

TheWayTheLightFalls · 24/09/2021 08:49

I have a 4yo. Her choice would probably be Frozen paraphernalia. My choice would either be books (especially into Little Princess at the mo), sticker/activity type books, clothes/PJs or a voucher/membership for an activity. I am declaring a one-woman embargo against random playsets with 100s of tiny pieces.

Onestep2021 · 24/09/2021 08:53

Yoto player?
Operation, Kerplunk, other board games
Scooter

Zampa · 24/09/2021 08:56

Agree with previous PP that I would like people to get my almost 4 year old clothes and books for her birthday.

However, she would like nail polish, a Frozen handbag (anything Frozen/Disney Princess tbh), Barbie dolls, unicorns, dressing up clothes ...

riotlady · 24/09/2021 09:24

Jigsaws, books, play do, vehicles (especially the self propelling ones), washable nail varnish was a big hit

Not cuddly toys, perpetually drowning in them

Bimblybomeyelash · 24/09/2021 09:28

Mine was obsessed with orchard games at that age. I played a gazillion games of ‘shopping list’ every bloody day.

CuteOrangeElephant · 24/09/2021 09:31

My DD just turned 4 and the Playmobil pony farm is a big hit!

WellTidy · 24/09/2021 09:35

I have nieces and at that age they’ve loved dress up, jewellery, tiaras and the like, nail varnish and clothes with sequins on them.

To balance all that out, duplo would still have been popular at that age, play doh would be a huge hit and anything art and crafts. Usborne do a series of fingerprints books, those paper dollies/mermaid type books are also great, and the usborne step by step learn to draw books are fantasia
