After reading about the price hikes I managed to check my account which was in ex's name and the only bill I hadn't been in charge of.
It's going up from £53 to £90 as of next month
There is a fixed tariff of £86 until 2024 with an exit fee of £30 I can choose.
Looking at other posts I'm getting off lightly or am I ? How much are other single ppl paying
I only have my 20mo 50% so I don't think he adds much to my usage at the moment

Mother? I meant month Grin

£97, I’m dreading what mine will be. I’m definitely leaving the central heating off for as long as possible.

fedup078 · 22/09/2021 21:00

Oh hang on
I've since put in updated meter readings and the cheapest fixed rate I can get now is £105

Just renewed and so now paying £135.It is just me and primary aged child who lives with me 100% of time.I work full time though so large chunk of day we are not in.Small 3 bed house but we are in Scotland so I would expect to pay more than someone in same situation but who lived in South of England.Still seems a lot though and has steadily climbed these past 5 years -I was paying bout £65/70 back then.

I'm thinking about cancelling my dd and paying the bill when it arrives which is what I used to do because I just thought that the projection will be based on 2 people living here from our previous usage

So I've ended up with £106
£53 to £106
Unreal

Look carefully at your usage and the details of assumptions made with that 3 year fix.

You need to check the daily standing charge and unit price not just the price per month.

There's lots of variables as well as number of occupants. Building size, insulation standard and heating/hot water type and usage will have a much greater bearing on cost than number of occupants.

After all, it costs the same to heat a particular property whether 1 person or a family live there, and the cost of extra showers, washing machine usage will be marginal.
