Toniebox

Hi,

Has anyone got a Toniebox?
DS 4 really struggles to switch his brain off for bed after school, he's started to stay up quite late.

He has a proper bedtime routine but wondered if having a Toniebox playing stories after we've read his stories would help him switch off.

Does anyone have them, are they worth it

We love ours

We have a Yoto, which is amazing! We looked at Toniebox but it has a smaller age range and didn't seem as versatile. But the concept of both is really good - DD has had her Yoto since she was 2 and will happily put stories on. The Gruffalo is a favourite at the moment - she puts that on while she's playing with her toys a lot at the moment!

I agree, we went for the Yoto as it's a bit more grown up and it felt like it'd have more longevity. My DD is also 4, just started school, and she loves hers.

I'll have a look at Yoto as I haven't come across that one

We have Alexa in the children’s rooms (5&6, but they’ve had them since 5&4), they listen to audio books on audible as well as music. They are great, and cheaper than the tonie/yoto

DS is 2 and it's pretty much always on when he's home and he finds it very easy to use. He listens to it to help him settle down to sleep, too, and it's helped put an end to several months of very difficult and long bedtimes. We wouldn't be without it now. I did look at the Yoto box too, but was concerned the cards wouldn't be as robust as the figures and we'd end up needing to replace them lots. Our figures take a real bashing and travel about lots and they look as good as new and still work perfectly.

We have one - DS is 4 and loves it. His elder brother has Alexa so he uses that too but I'd recommend the Tonie.

He also loves going to the shop to choose a new story/character which is a good occupying activity!

We have a Yoto as it seems to have a bit longer longevity whereas Tonie seemed like a younger kids thing.

Actually know about 10 others with Yotos.. clearly becoming the new thing.

thewhatsit · 21/09/2021 13:05

Btw we have a gazillion cards for the Yoto and a toddler too who plays with it and none have been damanged.

We just use an old smartphone (no sim) and a little Bluetooth speaker along along an audible subscription. Can use the phone and audible in the car too for long journeys.

DD(7) has a Toniebox and loves it. We went for that rather than the Yoto because she’s very heavy-handed and I feared the cards wouldn’t survive. She loves playing with the Tonies even when she’s not using the box.
