Another young woman killed in London, possibly by a stranger.

Have seen only a limited number of news reports about it so want to highlight so that she’s not yet another victim whose death is very quickly forgotten about.

Dogatetheleftovers · 22/09/2021 19:10

It’s absolutely heartbreaking. Her poor family, I read that she was a mother too. 😭

VladmirsPoutine · 22/09/2021 19:13

This is both infuriating and deeply sad. I think I read somewhere a woman is murdered by a man every 3 days.

Charley50 · 22/09/2021 19:16

It's tragic and scary. RIP Sabina and so sorry for her family. It's all over the news. I wonder if the police initially thought it was someone known to her, and have ruled that person out.

ElizabethTudor · 22/09/2021 19:49

It’s utterly tragic. RIP Sabina.
I’m so sorry for her family and friends.

WorriedMama101 · 22/09/2021 21:15

So so shocking and upsetting to say the least. I am also gobsmacked at the lack of coverage!

GreenClock · 22/09/2021 22:21

I heard about it today - radio news. It’s dreadful. I hope they find the perpetrator quickly.

And yes, men need to stop attacking women....women should be able to walk from A to B unaccosted whether the area is fancy or otherwise.

Lollipop444 · 22/09/2021 23:37

How can we stop this from happening and start to feel safe ? We should be able to go about our every day business without fear of this. Awful.

KenAdams · 23/09/2021 00:08

I only heard of this today and I'm appalled by the lack of coverage. I'm not sure why, given that it happened in London, to a woman as those stories tend to attract a lot of coverage.

PumpkinsAndCats · 23/09/2021 00:13

Not saying that I agree with Rayrz about women needing to stay safe but no kidbrooke is not a nice area at all, and I say that as someone who lives not far from there so know the well and I wouldn’t ever describe it as “nice area” however I suspect the man may have been known to Sabina possibly rather than a random attack (that’s just my thoughts anyway)

Kinsters · 23/09/2021 04:31

Shocking. Why are people discussing whether the area was nice or not? The implication of a bad area is that you need to be careful as maybe someone will nick your phone or wallet and rough you up in the process, not murder you...

I'm surprised how little coverage this has gotten, I only noticed the story today and I read the news every day. But she was killed and found on Friday evening...it's quite scary that a woman's murder can go so unreported and I suspect it's because they had a guy in custody (the daily mail article says a stranger but some people on here say he knew her?). Maybe now he's been released the media will take an interest...

I guess I shouldn't be surprised about the lack of coverage. 2 women are murdered each week in the UK and we don't ever know most of their names.

ChipsAreLife · 23/09/2021 06:10

Agree there has been a shocking lack of coverage on the whole ... but in fairness the Daily Mail has had it as a top story and does this morning again. Stark difference to Sarah Everard, I know it has the added element of it being a policeman responsible but that wasn't know at the start!

I hope the police can find out what happened and give her family some answers.

Iggly · 23/09/2021 06:14

Well there was plenty of coverage about Sarah Everard. I find the contrast chilling.
MiloAndEddie · 23/09/2021 06:37

Another saying the lack of coverage and outrage in comparison to Sarah everard is shocking

RIP Sabina

bluewanda · 23/09/2021 09:00

This is just heartbreaking Sad Praying they catch whoever did this as soon as possible.

Kinsters · 23/09/2021 09:28

The had a guy in custody within a few hours of her being found as far as I can tell. He was released pending further enquiries today or yesterday though hence the renewed headlines.
Kinsters · 23/09/2021 15:25

*Detective Chief Superintendent Trevor Lawry says police are concerned the killer could strike again as investigations into her murder continue, but added there was nothing to suggest it would happen.

But Mr Lawry said: 'The streets are safe for women, I'd like to reassure the public around that, I'd like to make sure that people are free to walk around free from fear and my officers will make sure that that can take place.'*

Taken from the daily mail article. There's something weird about this. On the one hand they're worried he'll strike again and that it's a stranger that killed her. On the other hand the streets are safe for women. Wtf.

Kinsters · 23/09/2021 15:34

I think they must be very confident they know who did it otherwise they'd be releasing details like what she was wearing, people they want to talk to. I hope they're not wrong and they get the evidence they need to bring the guy to justice soon.

Typical “man” or person in authority thing to say.

“The streets are safe” Is that supposed to reassure us? Do they think we are stupid? It would be better to say “we recognise that people are anxious and we are doing xxxxx to make the streets as safe as possible”

ElizabethTudor · 23/09/2021 16:51

Well that’s rubbish isn’t it.
The streets are blatantly not safe.
The poor woman was walking a journey 5 minutes from her home FFS. 5 minutes.

Interesting that Sadiq Khan says : violence against women was a national "epidemic".

LadyEloise1 · 23/09/2021 18:45

May Sabina rest in peace. What a dreadful thing to happen. Utterly heartbreaking.

Apparently there will be a vigil tomorrow by the group Reclaim the Streets.

I'm in Ireland and it's as bad here, women feeling unsafe.
However the sentencing in the UK is tougher.

I too thought Sarah Everard's murder got more publicity.

midsomermurderess · 23/09/2021 19:25

She was in a public place, people generally around and yet a predatory man was able to kill her. What are we meant to do?

CherieBabySpliffUp · 23/09/2021 20:27

A 38 year old man has been arrested so this is hopeful.

ElizabethTudor · 23/09/2021 20:42

Yes, I was just coming on here to post this

God I hope they've got the right guy and enough evidence this time. This is such a strange case- so chilling. Very close to home for us, I can't get this poor girl out my mind.
