I've become really worried about the price increases of gas and electric, so I'm hoping you'll be able to share some things that you do that will help minimise use and/or help stay warm this winter.

I'm on a much lower income than pre-Covid so am getting increasingly anxious, and I'm sure a lot of us are too, so I'm hoping this will help!

@thewinehasgonetomyhead, I assume those posters mean not to dry on radiators? Not sure though.
I use a dehumidifier, hang clothes on an airer. They would never dry otherwise.

Outside on the line where you can.

Drying indoors increases humidity and can cause damp. If you can't dry outdoors a dehumidifier can mitigate the effects and will use less energy than a tumble drier.

If you can afford it, the heated blankets for over you are brilliant for curling up together watching telly and I think they are like 1p an hour or something to run!!! (Going by packaging on my dreamland one) I think it was thirty pounds in sale but worth every penny.

Get outside as much as possible, then inside feels warmer. It works.

Buy thick curtains from charity shops.

Hang curtains over doors too.

Sausage dog draught excluders.

But when you do use the oven, then leave the door open!

You don’t need to leave the door open. The residual heat will find its way out with it closed.
