How much time has your duvet saved you? What else has saved you time?

Quick calculation:

I have saved this much time not making the bed with sheets and blankets over the last 30 years.

say 5 mins a day, say 6 days a week, say 1 hour a fortnight, say 25 hours a year, so roughly 30 days of my life

so a month, basically....

What other changes have saved so much time?

Omg it’s 6 in the morning, I can’t think Grin

Caramellatteplease · 20/09/2021 06:14

Washing machine and dishwasher have both saved significantly more

BabyRace · 20/09/2021 06:15

My car. Probably a few years on public transport and a lifetime in prison for not murdering someone on public transport.

Cazzovuoi · 20/09/2021 06:16

My cleaner. I haven’t vacuumed or cleaned a bathroom in 3 years.

Tiredandbored · 20/09/2021 06:17

One month of duvet savings are still outnumbered by 6 months of Mumsnet musings. Grin

delegating to children.

It's funny because I'm considering going back to sheets and blankets! I hate changing the duvet: getting it out the cover, doing the buttons up so all the pillowcases don't end up inside in during the wash, trying to get the bastard duvet back in it afterwards. I feel like blankets and sheets would be much easier and also better for peri-meno night sweats. At the moment my only option is hot or cold but I'd be able to choose how many layers I have on me. Smile

The biggest thing that's saved me time is buying a second freezer for the garage and batch cooking to fill it. DS has food allergies so meals can't always be quick or spontaneous and shop bought cakes are as easy to find as unicorn shit, so making things in triplicate means there are always options to reheat/cakes to shove in the lunchbox.

Well not being born in the 15th century has saved me ages .. and that includes the time not being dead prematurely!
Failing to see your angle OP.

Teaching my kids to make their own pack lunches:
15 mins a day - 10 mins a day clearing up after them = 5 mins a day x however many days they go to school.

I am struggling too. I maybe need coffee.

I would estimate that the 'bed-making duvet' savings have been more than consumed by the time spent trying to get the wretched thing into its cover.

WaterBottle123 · 20/09/2021 07:12

Not making the bed saves even more time...

BhortaBhorta · 20/09/2021 07:17

@CatNamedEaster. I’d recommend a wool duvet for menopause night sweats. Instantly better. No more changing the bed 3 x a night. (Hrt made it not as but the wool duvet really changed things).

WayneBruce · 20/09/2021 07:21

Swapping to a coverless duvet would shave off the wrestling time!

I have 2 and swap them.

CatNamedEaster · 20/09/2021 07:48

Thanks @BhortaBhorta, I will have a look at those. Smile

Totally agree! Hate bed change day because of this.
