Do you tip if a service charge is included?

I went to a very nice restaurant today for lunch and the bill included a ten percent service charge which was stated on the menu as being ‘for the hard work and dedication of the staff’

I have no problem paying this as the service was excellent (as was the food!) however I am now wondering if I should have also left a tip?

I’m just wondering what other people do in this situation please?

No, the service charge is the tip.

if paying with card then I usually ask....it's easier for the business to skim the tip/service charge away from the staff if paid by card I think.

I also ask if tips are shared and give cash, but occasionally if a member of staff has been really good I will leave a general tip and also seek them out for a personal tip.

it’s embarrassing if she removes the service charge and doesn’t tip at ALL. which is why I asked

Why / in what way is it embarrassing? Confused

It seems you have an issue with being embarrassed, it doesn't make it 'embarrassing'.

I hate this. If the service has been excellent and the service charge has been added then I'll pay it. However if it's a really expensive bill then I would ask for it to be removed.
I make the decision about how much to tip. Not the restaurant.

No, of course not. I do, however, ask for it to be removed if the service was poor.

Of course i’d find it embarrassing to eat out with someone so tight they refuse to tip! Unless the service is truly shit
