Best spot for London marathon

My DH is running the London marathon in a couple of weeks. Where’s the best spot to watch from with DC aged 9 & 10.

I don't think anyone knows what size crowds to predict this year

Does your DH want to stop and chat (maybe snack!) in which case you'll want to be somewhere uncrowded, where morale might otherwise be low (Canary Wharf) then travel to near the finish line.

If it's just to spot him as he dashes past, then I'd try somewhere near Tower Bridge

I like on the Highway about a mile after they cross Tower Bridge. It's a dual carriage way and they pass you at about 13m and then back on the other side at 22m so you see them twice and it's a bit less busy than some of the more obvious spots.

That’s where we used to stand to support friends.

I had a great time supporting my friend. The best spot we found was opposite Buckingham Palace just before the finish line. Not too busy, you could get a spot next to the barrier easily and the atmosphere with being at the finish line was fantastic

One of the best places is the mile 15 marker. It’s a quieter section of the course when it comes to the crowd but there is a real carnival atmosphere and after your DH has come through you can just cross the road to see him again when he comes back round just after mile 18. Pizza Pilgrims is very nearby and is a great spot for lunch with kids.

Sorry OP can't help, it I can 100% agree that Pilgrims Pizza is out of this world!

It depends on why your prefer:

Isle of Dogs is where there are least amount of spectators and where runners sometimes hit a wall/an all time low so need most encouragement.

Tower Bridge has a good buzz and has a row of pubs nearby.

There is a fire station on Lower Thames street, near where it becomes Upper Thames street, at around mile 23
There are live bands on the forecourt outside and several pubs nearby for drinks and toilets

It’s never particularly busy until later in the day, so you can get a spot right against the barriers and have a bit of entertainment before and after he comes past

Seconding this!

Thank you all for your advice. I’m going to have a look and check out the pizza place.
