Ok don’t laugh… I am going to a party and guests are required to dress up as a book title. I have absolutely no idea what to wear. Help???

Dress head to foot in Purple. The Colour Purple.

Make yourself a Gilead Uniform, Handmaid's Tale.

Go as something no one can figure out and understand, Oryx and Crake

Wear a football Kit, Man Utd T-Shirt, Coventry City shorts... Take of Two Cities.

Top hat and a coat too big for you, Artful Dodger, Oliver Twist.

DH just suggested Tequila Mockingbird Hmm

Yeah, hate fancy dress. So Woman in Black, Woman in White, The Color Purple, The Bluest Eye or even Goldfinger or White Fang seem good options. Or is there a book with your name (Rebecca, Shirley, Ruth, Emma, Matilda, Carrie, Esther etc)? Or Purple Hibiscus and just wear a flower behind your ear.

Where’s Wally. Stripy top. Jeans. Bobble hat. Glasses.

Mariell · 18/09/2021 20:31

Black Beauty. Wear all black and look beautiful. Bonus if you actually are a black lady!

Lucked · 18/09/2021 20:47

Pin a black heart to your outfit- Heart of Darkness. If your kids have a catchers mitt glue the number 22 to it. Or even the number 22 in a small kids fishing net.

Bluskyfinking · 18/09/2021 20:47

Striped black and white top, swag bag with a few books in it, look shifty - The Book Thief

ShushShushShush · 18/09/2021 20:55

Tiger onesie, China cup.

🐯 The tiger who came to tea 🐯

And if you drink all Daddy's beer then it will be book accurate and nobody can say you're not showing commitment to the role!

Stick a pillow up your dress and go as 'Great Expectations'Grin

QueenAnnesHat · 18/09/2021 20:58

Or wear everything back to front, wrong way round - All of a Twist!

MadamMalkin · 18/09/2021 21:01

Handmaids tale outfit, the great gatsby flapper look. Alice from Alice in wonderland.

binkydebonky · 18/09/2021 21:02

No- you are an adult- just say no.

It is not World Book Day and you are not 7.

Love the Old man and the sea idea too… if I can work out how to dress as an old man!

I’d go as this.

Soubriquet · 18/09/2021 21:05

Jumpsuit and a bow and arrow. Hunger games

Wizard cloak and wand. Harry Potter

Schulte · 18/09/2021 21:06

Are there any book titles with walrus in them? Hmm I just liked the look of the walrus mask…

Dress in range and hang some clock cogs around your neck. A clockwork orange,

LuluJakey1 · 18/09/2021 21:06

Grubby, torn old wedding dress- Miss Havisham from Great Expectations

DialSquare · 18/09/2021 21:07

Obviously that was meant to be orange not range!

BigRedBoat · 18/09/2021 21:07

If anyone asks what you've come as just stand up and say you're 'The Stand' by Stephen king

MadamMalkin · 18/09/2021 21:07

You could do a clockwork orange, with the eyeliner and bowler hat.

Soubriquet · 18/09/2021 21:08

Or…even cheesier. Body glitter and go as a twilight vampire Grin

ShesComeUndone · 18/09/2021 21:08

You could go as Somerset Maugham’s ‘Of Human Bondage’. You can probably guess the outfit suggestion.
